A photo from the set of Shazam! Fury of the Gods recently revealed that one of the previous film's characters is set to return from the dead.
An image of Djimon Honsou, reportedly from the set of the Shazam! sequel surfaced online, showing him dressed as the Wizard who seemingly met his end after endowing Billy Batson with the power of the gods. It is unknown how the Wizard will come back from the dead, though it's probably the case of the gods working in mysterious ways.
Principal photography is currently underway for Shazam! Fury of the Gods. While few official details have been released, audiences have been treated to several clues about the film's plot and characters through photos from the set, such as Helen Mirren's role as Hespera, one of the film's potential villains. It was also revealed that Shazam and the the Shazam Family will be getting new costumes.
Director David F. Sandberg is returning to direct the upcoming Shazam! Fury of the Gods!, while stars Zachary Levi, Jack Dylan Grazer and Asher Angel are reprising their roles as Shazam, Freddy Freedman and Billy Batson, respectively. Helen Mirren joins Lucy Liu and Rachel Zegler as newcomers to the franchise, reportedly playing villains. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters June 2, 2023.
