Shazam! director David F. Sandberg created a poll asking fans which DC characters they'd like to appear in the upcoming Shazam! Fury of the Gods, apparently with only one correct answer.
Sandberg shared a link to the poll on Twitter, which featured several potential characters, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Harley Quinn. However, no matter which DC character you chose, the poll will always say you selected, "the bully trucker from Superman II."
While most fans took the joke poll in stride, some seemed to be a bit upset by it, with one Twitter user saying that Sandberg should "be ashamed." Sandberg later replied to said Tweet, saying, "People ask me all the time to put their favorite character in Shazam! as if they're all at my disposal." The "bully trucker from Superman II" was named Rocky in the film and portrayed by Pepper Martin. Sandberg hasn't confirmed whether Martin will make an appearance in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is the sequel to the 2019 DC Extended Universe film, Shazam!, starring Zachary Levi as the popular DC hero. The sequel is set to begin filming early next year.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam!: Fury of the Gods stars Zachary Levi as Shazam, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Asher Angel as Billy Batson and Marta Milans as Mama Rosa. The film is tentatively set to arrive in theaters on Nov. 4, 2022.
