Much like fans, Shazam's Adam Brody has been eagerly anticipating the release of the film's sequel. He suggested that production on Shazam!: Fury of the Gods might start in early 2021.

Brody gave the possible hint about the sequel during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "Not only do they keep these things under wraps to a certain degree from us, but they certainly keep it under wraps from the public," the actor stated. "So even if I knew much, and I don't, I doubt I would be able to divulge anything."

However, he did have a rough estimate to share: "But the way I hear it, it sounds like maybe early next year, maybe early this coming year [we'll start production]. And what lies in store, I really don't know. I am waiting like you."

Brody's words came only a month after lead Zachary Levi suggested the sequel could start filming early next year. The actor played Freddy Freeman's adult counterpart Super Hero Freddy in the 2019 DC Extended Universe film. He is set to return for the film's sequel.

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam!: Fury of the Gods stars Zachary Levi as Shazam, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Asher Angel as Billy Batson and Marta Milans as Mama Rosa. The film is tentatively set to arrive in theaters on June 2, 2023.
