Drew Goddard's X-Force may have found another team member, as Deadpool 2 actor Lewis Tan is convinced he'll return as Shatterstar in the spinoff.
Deadpool 2's post-credits scene depicted Wade Wilson going back in time to right some wrongs, but he saved only one member of X-Force from the over-the-top deaths shown earlier in the movie: Rob Delaney's Peter. That left fans to wonder about the ultimate fates of his teammates Shatterstar, Bedlam, Zeitgeist and Vanisher.
Speaking to Syfy Wire at the Saturn Awards, Tan said he will reprise his role as Shatterstar: "You're going to see more of my character in the X-Force film ... that's what it's looking like."
He's hopeful that Deadpool's meddling in the past saved the entire X-Force for a surprise return. "Thankfully, Deadpool went back and had a little time machine that he stole," Tan said, "so in the post-credits scene he brought back Peter, and it's assumed that we're all going to come back as well."
"Hopefully he brings back Shatterstar and everybody, because the fans really enjoyed that scene, and I get a lot of attention online about how they thought it was one of the best scenes in the film," he continued, stopping short of confirming a role X-Force.
Big names like Deadpool, Cable and Domino are confirmed to have major roles in X-Force, while Deadpool 2 also hinted that Julian Dennison's Firefist and Stefan Kapičić's Colossus could join the team. That said, even X-Force producer Simon Kinberg admitted that a final line-up hasn't been settled on yet. It might be a tantalizing opportunity to give Brad Pitt more than his few seconds of screen time in Deadpool 2 as Vanisher, but the danger is that rescuing X-Force could undo one of the movie's best scenes.
Tan is clearly keen to return to the Fox franchise, but his schedule might be getting busier, as he is linked to Chris McKay's Nightwing. Either way, everyone knows that death isn't necessarily the end in superhero movies.
Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable and Julian Dennison as Russell.
