Details concerning Deadpool 3 and its cast of characters remain scarce and it's uncertain who, aside from the titular Merc with a Mouth, will be returning from Fox's Deadpool 2. Audiences may have gotten a hint relating to one member of Wade Wilson's short-lived X-Force, returning for the next instalment.Actor Lewis Tan recently shared a brief message on Twitter accompanying a promotional poster for the upcoming MCU production. The emojis used in the tweet appears to be references to the character Tan played in Deadpool 2: Rusty, also known as the mutant Shatterstar.RELATED: Marvel Fans Rally to Get Jackman in Wolverine's Yellow Costume for Deadpool 3

As fans of the Deadpool sequel may remember, Shatterstar was recruited by the Merc with a Mouth as a part of X-Force. Claiming to be an extraterrestrial from the planet Mojoworld, he boasted that he was superior to normal humans in nearly every possible way. That apparently did not include parachuting as he was minced into pieces by a helicopter on the team's first mission.

Despite the apparent finality of Shatterstar's appearance, Tan's tweet suggests he may yet live. At the end of Deadpool 2, Wade travelled through time to save Vanessa from her untimely demise, stopped X-Force member Peter from accidentally getting melted and killed his X-Men Wolverine: Origins counterpart, among other things. It should be noted, neither Marvel Studios nor those involved in the upcoming Deadpool 3 have confirmed Shatterstar or anyone from Deadpool 2 will return.

Little is known about Deadpool's version of the alien mutant aside from his homeworld. In the comics, Shatterstar is a genetically-engineered humanoid who was born and bred to be a gladiator slave. He possesses superhuman physical and mental capabilities as well as the mutant ability to generate shockwaves through bioelectric manipulation. He ultimately escapes Mojoworld by jumping through time and space to present-day Earth.

Other members of X-Force may not be returning just yet. Actor Zazie Beetz, who played Domino in Deadpool 2, previously hinted she is not involved in the third instalment. The same was suggested by actor Morena Baccarin, who played Vanessa, who expressed she would be open to reprising the role.

While X-Force's return is uncertain, mutants in general appear to be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon. Along with Wade Wilson, it was recently announced actor Hugh Jackman will be returning as the iconic X-Men character Wolverine in the upcoming film. Details concerning his return have not yet been revealed.

Deadpool 3 is set to premiere on Sept. 6, 2024.
