Eagle-eyed fans have been speculating that Shatterstar would appear in the Deadpool sequel after watching the first trailer, and now it has been confirmed.

Stefan Kapičić, the actor who plays Colossus in both Deadpool and its upcoming successor, has confirmed that the mutant, who's a member of X-Force in Marvel Comics, will indeed appear in the sequel. Speaking to Inverse, the actor also discussed Terry Crews' surprise appearance in the trailer. “That’s not CGI of Terry Crews, that is Terry Crews. You can see it clearly. You can see behind him, Shatterstar, a really cool thing for people to geek out.”

The result of bio-engineering from an alternate dimension, Shatterstar is trained in martial arts that are unknown on Earth and has energy-focused powers. He wears quite a distinctive, recognizable costume in the comics and that's how fans were able to identify him, despite looming in the background behind Deadpool and Terry Crews' character.

It's not yet confirmed whether the team that's on display in the trailer are indeed X-Force, the team that is set to have its own movie written and directed by Drew Goddard. There's a chance that the team is in fact Six Pack, a team of mercenaries put together by Cable (who will be played by Josh Brolin in Deadpool 2). The setting that the team are in suggests that they are indeed Six Pack and not X-Force, though there are only five visible members. It's worth noting that Cable's missing, and he could indeed be the sixth and final member of the gang.

Interestingly, Shatterstar has never been a member of the Six Pack in the comics, his allegiance has always been with X-Force. So Fox has either deviated from the source material, which we all know is a definite possibly and has happened in the past, or we've actually just seen X-Force in action for the first time in live-action. Either way, fans can expect to see Shatterstar in all his ass-kicking glory when the movie opens in May.
