Emily VanCamp may well have ended hopes of Sharon Carter, aka Agent 13, appearing in Avengers: Infinity War. Directed by the Russo brothers, the third Avengers flick boasts a sprawling cast and is set to be the largest superhero movie ever, pitting Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against Thanos as he comes for his Infinity Stones. However, in a recent interview, VanCamp suggested that her character just won't fit into this grand battle.
Speaking in AOL’s Build series, she sounded pessimistic about Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) love interest, who debuted in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, even appearing in the 2019 sequel to Infinity War. "It’s hard to fit Sharon into that, she’s really in Cap’s world," she said. "She sort of fits into the Captain America movies, that’s where her sort of story lies, but I can tell you it’s going to be like an epic two-parter."
That may suggest that if somehow Cap does survive the next two Avengers movies, she could return and join him in safeguarding the world as per modern comics. Agent 13 was last seen in Captain America: Civil War helping Rogers and his rogue Avengers squad escape Team Stark and the Sokovia Accords, while also stemming the threat of Baron Zemo.
The character did play an integral role in Cap's death in the books but while this doesn't look like the route Marvel Studios will take, VanCamp has hinted that maybe her character could appear in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as she was lined up for the show in the past. Whatever's decided, fans will surely be hoping she gets at least one romantic bout again with the star-spangled hero, no matter how brief it may be.
