Though Easter eggs have become standard for fans in comic book movies, not every hidden gem is a callback to a comic book storyline. Sometimes, the Easter eggs pertain to the larger universe surrounding the movie itself. That's exactly the case with Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings. While there are certainly plenty of nods to the original comic book stories, there are also a handful of Easter eggs for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Specifically, these Easter eggs reference the Snap, the moment Thanos snapped his fingers and half the universe's population disappeared. While Shang-Chi doesn't devote a large part of its storyline to the effects of people disappearing (and reappearing in the Blip) like The Falcon And The Winter Soldier did, the movie does make nods to how the world is changed as well as which characters survived the initial Snap.

5 Lil Nas X Survived The Snap

One fan theory that has made the rounds on social media is that artist Lil Nas X survived the Snap and continued making music. That's due in large part to Katy and "Shaun" singing his hit song "Old Town Road" at their all-night karaoke session. In the real world, the song was released after the Snap would have happened.

Because Shang-Chi is set in the year following the Blip, it's entirely possible that the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline is different for pop culture than the real world's. Lil Nas X could have released the song earlier, or even after the Blip. The idea, however, is a fun one that makes fans wonder just which other influential pop culture figures would have survived the Snap and kept making content for the world during a time of upheaval and trauma.

4 There Are Post-Blip Support Groups

During the events of Avengers: Endgame, the audience saw Steve Rogers leading a support group for those who lost loved ones to Thanos' Snap. That idea isn't completely done in the MCU though now it's support groups for those affected by the Blip. When the camera lingers on the outside of Katy's building early in the movie, the wall is littered with posters and flyers for passersby. One of them reads, "Post-Blip anxiety? You are not alone." It also features the phone number for the National Blip Support Hotline.

This is a nice touch since the movie doesn't go into detail about how people are dealing with returning to a world that has already mourned their loss. It makes perfect sense that those who experienced that loss five years earlier wouldn't be the only ones to have stress and anxiety. Those returning to a world where their children are older, their houses have been sold, and the world has moved on could certainly benefit from a little help.

3 Shang-Chi And Katy Survived The Snap

Though there isn't much talk of whether Katy and Shang-Chi's lives were personally affected by the Snap, one thing that is clear is that the duo survived the Snap to live out those five years before the Blip. Neither of them vocally confirm that they survived the Snap, but costuming and a conversation with Katy's mother do. When Katy and Shang-Chi go out for karaoke, he's wearing one of his high school shirts that read "class of 2017" on the back.

While it could simply be a random shirt and not reflective of his own graduation from high school, that seems unlikely since it would fit the movie's timeline. If Shang-Chi is born in 1999 and runs away from home at 14, he would likely turn 18 sometime in the same year he graduated from high school. In addition to his shirt, Katy's mother also comments on her attending Berkeley after high school and graduating with honors. Unless she's a few years older than Shang-Chi, which there's no indication of, she would have needed a few years to attend university. That had to have happened during the five years between the Snap and the Blip.

2 A Post-Blip Dating App Exists

There aren't just posters about support groups on the wall outside of Katy's family's home. Among the flyers, some of which are pasted over the support group poster, are posters advertising estate sales, grief counseling, and life insurance. All of those are signs that people are aware that anyone could be gone in an instant after what happened with the Snap. Also among them, however, are posters for BlipSync.

The Easter egg is never mentioned by name in Shang-Chi, though several posters depict different couples on them. While the rest of the text is blurry, it looks as though they might say, "there's someone there for everyone." Journalist Joanna Robinson has surmised that BlipSync is a dating app for those looking to connect in a world that's been turned upside down. Everyone would have to adapt, first to the Snap and then to the Blip, so it's no surprise that at least one of the many dating apps out there would specialize in this area.

1 Xialing And Wenwu Survived The Snap

A split image depicts Xialing and Wenwu in Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The 10 Rings

The characters in Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings appear to have gotten very lucky in terms of the Snap. Though it made half of the population disappear, it didn't make many of the cast disappear. Even Xialing and Wenwu appear to have survived the Snap. Wenwu makes it clear that Shang-Chi and Xialing, despite running away, have never truly been free of him. He repeatedly remarks that he gave Shang-Chi 10 years to himself. His phrasing, and the fact that the Ten Rings still seem organized under his command, means that he lived out the five years after the Snap knowing exactly where his kids were.

A few years younger than her brother, Xialing was left in their father's compound when Shang-Chi was sent on his first mission for their father. He was 14 years old and he chose that mission to run away from home. She explains to him and Katy that she waited six years for him to come back before using the tunnels under the compound to escape herself. That means she's been on her own and building her underground fighting ring for about four years. It also means that both Xialing and Wenwu were alive and well the entirety of the five-year-jump in the MCU.
