The Marvel Comics superhero Shang-Chi is set to make his live-action cinematic debut later this year in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. While the character's costume has not yet been revealed, his actor Simu Liu has revealed that there's one problem with it.

In an interview with Toronto Life, Liu was asked if there was a moment from filming for the movie that stuck out in his memory.

"The first time I tried on Shang-Chi’s superhero suit," Liu responded. "Marvel has never had an Asian lead, so that was such a rare and impactful moment, for me as an actor but also for people who look like me. I nearly cried. It was so emotional. And then of course by the fifth day, I was like, Oh my god, I hate this thing, why are there so many zippers?"

While details regarding the plot are limited, the film will see Shang-Chi go up against the Ten Rings, the terrorist organization from Marvel Studios' Iron Man films. Furthermore, set photos and casting calls indicate that the character will take part in a Mortal Kombat-esque tournament in the movie.

Opening Summer 2021, Simu Liu stars as Shang-Chi in Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. Shang-Chi must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Daniel Callaham, Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings stars Simu Liu, Tony Leung, Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, Jiang Nan, Meng'er Zhang. Ronny Chieng, Fala Chen and Florian Munteanu. The film arrives in theaters July 9, 2021.
