Shang-Chi star Simu Liu has addressed his cameo appearance in the Season 1 finale of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

In the Disney+ series' ninth episode, "Whose Show Is This?," She-Hulk breaks through the fourth wall and onto the Disney backlot, proceeding straight to the Marvel Studios offices to talk to the writers behind the Season 1 finale. During her fourth wall break, the character busts through her Disney+ title card, looking for a way into Marvel Studios. It is during this moment that fans can spot Liu's Shang-Chi cameo, which is simply the character appearing on the Disney+ Marvel banner and the Shang-Chi title card. "[B]ehold my triumphant return to the MCU you guys," the actor said on Twitter, sharing a screengrab of his "cameo."

While the She-Hulk finale does not feature any new footage of Liu as the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero, the actor has previously suggested that Marvel fans can expect to see more of Shang-Chi in the future. After Marvel Studios announced its upcoming slate at San Diego Comic Con 2022, Liu teased that his character would be appearing in the next two Avengers films, saying, "I don't want to jump the gun or anything, but I feel like there might be room for me in a couple of those, wouldn't you say? I was watching the presentation from... basically from Twitter and being like 'Oh, I'm going to be busy! I'm going to be busy the next few years.'"

A Shang-Chi Sequel Is in the Works

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was released in September 2021 as the 25th film in the MCU. The film was a major success for Marvel Studios, grossing over $430 million at the worldwide box office and being met with an overwhelmingly positive reception by critics and audiences. A sequel was announced in Dec. 2021, with director Destin Daniel Cretton returning to write and direct. Liu is also expected back as the titular hero, who now wields the full power of the ten rings.

While an official release date has not been confirmed by Marvel at this time, a report from Sept. 2022 suggested that the untitled Shang-Chi sequel would be released in theaters on February 14, 2025. However, Marvel's upcoming Fantastic Four reboot recently claimed that release date after a calendar shuffle that saw four upcoming MCU films delayed. It is now unknown when Shang-Chi 2 may hit theaters.
