The introduction of Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings to the MCU universe cannot be understated. The film not only broke ground in terms introducing American cinema to legendary Hong Kong actors (such as Tony Leung Chiu-wai), but was also nothing short of epic. The film had mystic mythology, brilliant choreography, and badass fight scenes.

The movie also brought a nostalgic flair back for fans of classic kung-fu movies. But even for new viewers, the movie was action packed with fight scenes that spanned everywhere from San Diego to otherworldly dimensions. Shang-Chi had so many awesome, jaw-dropping scenes that it's hard to pick which moment was the best.

10 Xialing & Shang-Chi Settle Their Sibling Rivalry In A Cage Match

The introduction to Shang-Chi's sister, Xu Xialing, is pretty exciting and shows that he isn't the only one in the family that can throw down. Shang-Chi unwillingly has to face off against his sister in a cage match in the underground fight club that she runs.

The sibling rivalry goes deep, as the audience comes to find out. Xialing's rage stemmed from feeling that Shang-Chi abandoned her when they were kids. Xialing ended the cage fight with a brutal beating on her brother, proving her to be a worthy ally for future battles ahead.

9 The Stand Off Between The Ten Rings & The Citizens of Ta Lo Was Intense

The underlying tragedy of Wenwu is that he believed his deceased wife, Ying Li, was trapped in Ta Lo. This was a trick played on Wenwu by the Dweller-in-Darkness to help the Soul Eaters escape from behind their sealed off wall. Ying Nan, sister of Yang Li and Shang-Chi's aunt, knew from her experience as the guardian of Ta Lo that Wenwu was mistaken.

Yet this deception still ushered in a stand-off between Wenwu's warriors and the villagers of Ta Lo. The battle escalated as the tension between the two camps was especially heightened by Shang-Chi's dilemma of encountering a potentially fatal conflict with his father.

8 Katy Shooting An Arrow Through The Dwellers' Neck Was The Perfect Climax

The ending was full of epic scenes, but Katy Chen's crucial shot through the Dweller's neck was definitely a moment worth cheering. Katy had just learned archery from her teacher Guang Bo before the battle. She had to use her new skills quickly as she watched Guang Bo killed by a Soul Eater.

Katy found the courage and focus to shoot an arrow that sliced the Dweller's neck as he was taking the soul of the Great Protector. Shang-Chi is considered the main hero of the film, but Katy is arguably the main reason the day was saved— that, and the hard work of Awkwafina's stunt double.

7 Wenwu & Li Sparring Is Beautifully Romantic

For a movie that's action packed with martial arts, the beginning started off with a very serene clash. Xu Wenwu crossed paths with Ying Li as he searched for Ta Lo to expand his powers. Ying Li, guardian of Ta Lo, would not let Wenwu enter unchecked.

They engaged in a duel which turns into romantic tension that causes them both to fall in love. This scene is shot beautifully and the choreography may remind viewers of the acclaimed martial art film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

6 Shang Chi Faces Off Against His Father As They Both Face Their Grief

The pressure between Shang Chi and his father, Wenwu, hit a climax as Wenwu is preparing to destroy the wall. Shang-Chi accepted that he may have to kill his father. Yet he attempted to reason with Wenwu with the truth that Li is gone and breaking the wall won't bring her back.

Even though Shang-Chi didn't kill his father, it still led to a pretty ferocious battle. The standoff between the father and son may have ranked higher for some critics, but with so much occurring at the Battle of Ta Lo, it's just one of many epic battles.

5 The Scaffold Fight Had Viewers on The Edge Of Their Seats

Any viewer who was afraid of heights held their breath as Shang-Chi, Katy, and Xialing battle through a potentially deadly situation. Fans got to see on full display the death-defying martial arts play out on the scaffold of a skyscraper.

The fighting is very well choreographed as Xialing and Shang-Chi defended themselves from the Ten Rings while Katy literally hung in the balance in fear of her life. Wenwu revealed himself at the end of the fight to admit to his children that he was impressed by how they defended themselves. Viewers of the movie were equally impressed.

4 The Soul Eaters Vs The People Of Ta Lo Was Arduous

The battle when the villagers and the army of the Ten Rings realized that they may go down swinging against the Soul Eaters was zealous. The bravery mixed with morbid fatalism is almost reminiscent to the Battle of Winterfell in Game of Thrones.

The villagers acknowledged that this is the battle they've been preparing for and that many may die fighting back. That gruesome reality occurred as Shang-Chi fought off Wenwu. It took the killing of Death Dealer for Razorfist to accept that working with the villagers was the only means of survival.

3 Wenwu Gave Shang-Chi The Rings Before Dying

Despite the family drama, there was still love between Wenwu and Shang-Chi. After the battle with Wenwu, the gate is collapsed and the Dweller-in-Darkness escaped with the Soul Eaters. Wenwu sacrificed himself after Shang-Chi is attacked by the Dweller.

As Wenwu is dying at the hands of the Dweller, he decided to entrust the ten rings over to his son. This is most emotional scene in the film because it acknowledged the bonding of a broken father and son relationship. But it also allowed fans to watch Wenwu let go of his power and, subconsciously, his grief.

2 The Great Protector & Shang-Chi Battling The Dweller-In-Darkness Was As Important As It Was Exciting

The most consequential battle in the film happened as Shang-Chi and the Great Protector chased down the Dweller as the villagers fought off the Soul Eaters. The fight was filled with crazy twists and turns. The Great Protector almost died as the Dweller was stealing his soul, only to be saved by Katy.

Eventually, Shang-Chi vanquished the Dweller using the ten rings. One big factor that added to the epic levels of this fight is the Yin and Yang element between the Great Protector and the Dweller, which encapsulated the overall philosophy of the film.

1 The Bus Fight Scene Was The Adrenaline Shot That Hooked Fans Into The Movie

The fight on the public bus in San Francisco is the best scene in the movie. The audience didn't know Shang-Chi had the skills he possessed until he's attacked by Razorfist, a mercenary who with menacing blade for an arm that rivaled any Mortal Kombat character.

Maybe it was popular because of how suddenly it occurred, or maybe it felt like a mini throwback to the movie Speed from the early '90s. There are many reasons this scene resonated with fans, not the least of them being that it's simply an action packed brawl. Some have said it's the best fight scene in MCU history, but while that claim is up for debate, it's definitely the most epic scene in this film.
