The upcoming Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings has been the subject of speculation these past months, with eager audiences trying to determine what the film will ultimately look like. Now it appears that the movie might bear a striking resemblance to the Mortal Kombat video games.

That's according to Murphy's Multiverse, who recently reported that the film project put out a casting call for a male actor to film a one-scene cameo. The character is simply listed as "Kane" on the call sheet. Kane will apparently travel with Shang-Chi and several of the main characters, and will live-stream them entering into a massive fight.

Rumors had surfaced earlier that Shang-Chi would enter a martial arts tournament on behalf of the Mandarin, and come face to face with several opponents including the massive dragon Fin Fang Foom. Based on this casting, that rumor may not have been entirely unfounded.

Though little is known about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Simu Liu was revealed to be playing the titular Master of Kung Fu at last year's San Diego Comic-Con. Also joining the cast are Tony Leung as the Mandarin, as well as Akwafina and Rosalind Chao, both playing undisclosed roles.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by David Callaham , Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings arrives in theaters Feb. 12, 2021.
