Shane Black’s ‘Predator’ to Begin Filming This Fall

Much like a certain camouflaged, trophy-hunting alien, Shane Black’s “Predator” film may be lurking closer than you realized.

While promoting his new mystery comedy “The Good Guys,” director Shane Black told Agence France-Presse that he plans to begin shooting this fall, “September, October.”

Although no plot details have been revealed about “Predator,” the film has been characterized as “an inventive sequel” rather than a reboot of the 1987 sci-fi action film. Arnold Schwarzenegger has even hinted he could reprise his role as Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer (Black said the star’s involvement “is something we’re looking into”).

Black also told AFP that his  “Predator” will be “bigger” than its three previous films in the Fox franchise.

“To the best of my knowledge, the train is rolling,” he said. “It took some convincing because they’ve been putting out these movies all along with a $50-60 million budget, and they all had a guaranteed return. But there was never the sense that it was an event picture. It was more like ‘I understand another ‘Predator’ is coming out — maybe we’ll see it maybe we won’t.’”

“Predator” opens March 2, 2018.
