Seven Seas, Diamond Sign Booktrade Agreement

Official Press Release

Seven Seas Entertainment, LLC has selected Diamond Book Distributors as the exclusive U.S. and non-exclusive worldwide distributor of English-language editions of its graphic novels and books to the bookstore, library, warehouse club, and mass merchandise markets. Diamond will also be Seven Seas' exclusive worldwide distributor to the comics specialty market.

Seven Seas was formed by Jason DeAngelis and Dallas Middaugh in 2004. While DeAngelis is an expert on Japanese culture, having lived in Japan for six years, Middaugh - the former Director of Sales and Marketing at Viz, LLC - is a ten year veteran of the publishing industry. Together, they are dedicated to producing the highest quality manga possible for the international market. While Japan is rightfully acknowledged as the birthplace of manga, the company believes it is an art form that can span all cultures. Seven Seas seeks to promote the concept of "world manga" by collaborating with talented international writers and artists to develop stories with a universal appeal for a worldwide audience. The company is based in Los Angeles and employs talent from all around the world.

"Jason and Dallas have shown extraordinary knowledge of and dedication to the art form of manga," said Diamond Vice President of Purchasing Bill Schanes. "Together, they will most certainly produce some of the most innovative works the industry has seen, and I look forward to seeing what Seven Seas has up its sleeve!"

"There are only a few distributors with the knowledge and experience to sell the manga and graphic novel categories, and Diamond is chief among them," said Seven Seas CEO Dallas Middaugh. "We hope to make a big splash in this market, and having their support will go a long way toward that goal."

Diamond's Sales Team will begin working with bookstores, book wholesalers, warehouse clubs, mass merchandisers, and libraries to place Seven Seas titles across the country.
