Seven Deadly Sins will return with a new sequel anime.

Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine announced that Four Knights of the Apocalypse, the official sequel manga to Seven Deadly Sins, will be receiving an anime adaptation. The on-going manga premiered in January 2021 and is written and drawn by Nakaba Suzuki, the original creator of the franchise. The new anime was announced as part of the 10th anniversary celebration for the original Seven Deadly Sins manga, which was first published in 2012. Additional details about the new anime, such as what studio is producing it, its cast and a premiere date, have yet to be announced. The magazine also released new art of the sequel show's protagonist.

Four Knights of Apocalypse Art

The new series is set several years after the events of the original story and focuses on the adventures of a new hero, Percival. Hunted by the knights of Camelot because he is prophesized to become one of the four knights who will bring about the end of the world, Percival sets out to find the other three figures in the prophecy alongside Lancelot, a warrior who is the son of Ban, one of the original members of the Order of the Seven Deadly Sins.

The original Seven Deadly Sins anime premiered in 2014. The first two seasons of the show and the series' first movie were produced by A-1 Pictures, the studio behind hit series such as Sword Art Online, 86: Eighty-Six and Kaguya-sama: Love is War. Production on all of the following animated entries in the series were produced by Studio Deen (Ranma 1/2, Sasaki and Miyano). The anime was licensed for international release by Funimation and was streamed exclusively by Netflix. Neither Netflix nor Crunchyroll, which has merged with Funimation following its acquisition by parent company Sony in 2021, have announced plans to release the new series as of the writing of this article.

Seven Deadly Sins was first published in 2012 and tells the story of the titular Order of the Seven Deadly Sins, a group of powerful knights who each represent one of the Biblical seven deadly sins, and are framed for plotting a coup in the Liones Kingdom. The series was praised for its new take on traditional medieval fantasy tropes. The fantasy manga ran for 41 volumes and sold over 37 million copies during its run. The anime adaptation is still available for streaming on Netflix, while the manga is available in English from Kodansha USA.
