While most popular anime series tout one or two movies to give more to loyal fans, these films are rarely watched by every fan, mostly due to the fact that they aren't canon and don't add anything to the main story. The Seven Deadly Sins film Prisoners of the Sky (currently available on Netflix) is no exception.

But while it doesn't affect the events of the main series, every fan of The Seven Deadly Sins should make it a priority to watch the film. There are 100 different reasons why they should, but for now, here are 10 of them!

10 Can Serve As A Refresher

For fans who've taken a long break from The Seven Deadly Sins, it might be a bit jarring to just jump back to where they left off in the anime.  Prisoners of the Sky definitely doesn't hold the viewer's hand, but it does make a point to put all of the traits and abilities of each character upfront in the beginning as they hunt for ingredients for a meal meant for Elizabeth's father.

The film has references to Escanor's crush on Merlin, Ban's bromance with Meliodas, and King's infatuation with Diane, making it easy for longtime fans to pick up on the relationships between these characters, their distinct personalities, and the events that transpired in the anime that reunited them after they'd been separated for so long.

9 Familiar Comedic Elements

Despite being an action-heavy fantastic anime, The Seven Deadly Sins strays into the world of comedy on several occasions. Fans of the anime will be happy to know that Prisoners of the Sky features that same over-the-top slapstick brand of humor that they'll definitely be able to appreciate.

8 Isn't Hard To Follow As Much As The Main Series Is

As mentioned in one of the previous entries, the events of the anime can be difficult to follow as characters often change their allegiances, appearances, and titles. Many fans of the anime even still struggle with the fact that Hendrickson is now a "good guy" after having been responsible for so many atrocities during the Holy Knights Saga.

Fortunately, the plot of Prisoners of the Sky is a lot more streamlined and easy to follow. Unlike the Ten Commandments, there are only Six Knights of Black, and though the Celestials are an entirely new race, we're not introduced to more than a handful of them that are pivotal to the story. Besides the Sins going to the Sky Temple, there isn't much traveling at all, and much of the latter half of the film documents the struggle between the Seven Deadly Sins and the Six Knights of Black, making for a more straightforward plot.

7 Expands On The Lore Of This World

The world of The Seven Deadly Sins feels alive and rich from the get-go, dropping fans right in the middle of a planet filled with different races, all with their own cultures and views of one another. Prisoners of the Sky expands upon this, introducing a group of beings known as Celestials, descendants of the Goddesses, who were under the impression that the inhabitants of the world below had been overpowered by the Demons 3,000 years ago.

Not only do the Celestials fit in perfectly with the lore of the canon material, but in watching Prisoners of the Sky, fans will gain just a little more insight into this world that they continue to learn about with every new episode.

6 All Of The Sins Are Finally Together

For a large part of The Seven Deadly Sins, all seven of the Sins remained separated after having been framed for the murder of the Great Holy Knight Zaratras, but after they were finally reunited during the Revival of the Commandments Saga, fans saw firsthand just how this band of warriors interacted with one another during their glory days.

Prisoners of the Sky highlights the important bonds between the Sins that lead to golden moments even when they're just conversing with one another.

5 Hawk Gets Several Shining Moments

While Hawk does make himself useful in a crisis, it's clear that he mainly serves as the show's comic relief. In Prisoner of the Sky, fans will enjoy seeing the renowned Captain of Scraps Disposal interact with the Celestials, especially Vaness, as he navigates his newfound fame as the supposed descendant of a deity.

Hawk isn't a powerhouse like most of his companions are, but only he can lighten the mood of a terrifying Demon attack.

4 More Demon Clan Members Are Introduced

After the Ten Commandments were resurrected, fans saw for themselves just how frightening full-fledged Demon Clan members could be. They added a huge amount of diversity to the series, being extremely powerful characters who aren't Sins or Holy Knights, and were a lot more distinct than the lesser demons that populate their armadas.

The Six Knights of Black, as well as Baruja, were just a few more members of the powerful Demon Clan that made their race more than just a horde of bloodthirsty monsters.

3 Jaw-Dropping Fights

The Seven Deadly Sins is known for its amazing, action-packed fights in which every character is endowed with a powerful magical ability that gives them a huge advantage in combat.

With Demons challenging the Seven Deadly Sins in Prisoners of the Sky, it's no surprise that they pull out some of their strongest techniques to win the fight, further proving just how strong the Seven Deadly Sins are.

2 The Seven Deadly Sins Combination Attack

On their own, each Sin is strong enough to defeat several Holy Knights, but Prisoners of the Sky proves that they're invincible when they're all together. Most famously in this film, Meliodas uses his signature Full Counter in order to reflect his teammates' strongest attacks in order to take down the Demon Baruja, and it's nothing short of epic.

While this technique may very well be employed in the anime sometime in the future, Prisoners of the Sky is currently the only place where fans can see the Seven Deadly Sins Combination Attack pulled off successfully.

1 More Insight Into Hawk Mama...

Hawk Mama is one of The Seven Deadly Sins' most interesting characters. While many fans always questioned the origins of such a massive pig, something seemed off the minute she just swallowed Monspeet's Purgatory Flame Bird without even batting an eye.

Hawk Mama's true nature is revealed later on in the main series, but Prisoners of the Sky gives fans just a little more context regarding her origins, as well as her enormous impact on such a layered world.
