The Seven Deadly Sins list of characters all come with their own unique magic move set and screen captions, but none have managed to upstage the Boar Hat’s mascot and overseer of scraps disposal. Hawk the teenage pig is a notorious truth-teller, and he don’t hold back his snootiness for nobody. He’s not just comic relief, either; Hawk’s quips quite often strike the heart of his targets.

To highlight the pugnacious porker’s verbal tenacity, we’ll take a look at his best moments throughout the three seasons and movie (all available for viewing on Netflix) of the Seven Deadly Sins canon.

10 “Transpork!”

Hawk’s slick mouth and amazing appetite for leftovers may not make him the first choice in battle, but he does have a magical touch that cements his role as part of the Seven Deadly Sins crew.

Probably as fitting of an ability for a pig as you’ll find, Hawk’s Transpork—named by Hawk himself—allows him to transform into a hybrid creature with a new look and skill set depending on what kind of magical being he eats. His known transformations include a dragon which can snort fire, and both gray and red demon types, among others. You can’t miss the quote either since he proudly announces “Transpork!” when he gets a magical meal.

9 “I’m the one that brought her!”

Hawk is a pig, and not too many pigs are considered very dangerous as long as you’re not on their dinner trough. That being said, it’s understandable that he would want to run off in the heat of battle to avoid getting cooked.

But his cowardice didn't bother him at all; Hawk went for all the glory he was worth and didn’t let his contribution go unnoticed. It’s true that Hawk made the call for his colossal pig mother to arrive, but Hawk didn’t appreciate not getting his props.

8 “I had my belly stuffed with fruit!”

Hawk is phenomenal. It’s enough of a feat that he survives in a crew of savages like Meliodas and his friends without getting put on the chopping block, and he must sweat a little with Meliodas' constant charcuterie jokes. It's all fun and games as long as they can remember that Hawk isn't on the menu.

Still, a hog is a hog, and Hawk lives up to his name as much in slop removal as he does when it comes to feeding his ego. All seemed to be forgiven when Lady Diane apologized for jumping to conclusions about Elizabeth and Meliodas, as well as for roasting Hawk on an open fire. An apology was in order, but Hawk knew he’d suffered in a way the others didn’t understand, and he had no problem spelling it out for them.

7 “Piggy-back, piggy-back, piggy-back…”

How many times giving someone a piggyback ride did you actually ever picture a pig? And be honest: it might be kind of absurd if you did, considering you’re usually standing on two legs when performing the procedure.

Hawk carrying Meliodas to Elizabeth after his fight with a few Holy Knights high on demon blood literally was a piggyback ride in its purest form, and probably the most correct piggyback ever seen on television since Timon & Pumbaa. It is an obvious pun, but it was still funny.

6 “Don’t underestimate a pig’s omnivorousness!”

Another one of Hawk’s Transpork transformations gave him the ability to swim through the ground like water, but there was just as much magic in the reaction to the Hawk’s power-up process.

It wasn’t like Hawk was participating in cannibalism, but Howzer, one of the top-ranked Holy Knights, couldn’t take to watch him make a snack out of the junior sand crawler. Too bad for Howzer that Hawk was such a glutton for the center of everyone's attention.

5 “Read the room! Are you Gowther now?”

Meliodas is a lucky guy to have Hawk around ready to catch him slipping again and again. It’s not that Hawk doesn’t respect his authority, but rather won’t accept anything less than the best leadership from him.

Just after having to revert Gowther back into a doll because of his lack of empathy and understanding of human emotion, Meliodas speaks in a way that seemed to ignore Elizabeth’s feelings, leading her to believe that she was just weighing him down. In his defense, though, Meliodas was really just looking to keep Elizabeth out of danger. After all, hardly anyone besides him knew what the world was up against.

4 “I was gonna say that!”/“Don’t take the words out of my mouth!”

During a Holy Knight meeting at the Boar Hat to discuss how to handle the demon outbreak, Hawk’s input was valid enough for Hendrickson to echo, but he wasn’t about to let himself go unheard, even if he was the weakest of the bunch.

Hawk doesn’t slack to get all the recognition he’s earned, no matter the rank or power level of anyone threatening to steal his thunder. Having the spotlight stolen from him by Hendrickson, Hawk had no problem stealing the shine right back.

3 “I bet you wet yourself, huh”

It’s got to be a wonder how this piglet is able to roast even the most powerful Holy Knights with little to no consequence. Even the head honcho, Grand Master Zaratras, had to nod in agreement with Hawk’s judgment.

The quote might’ve been even funnier if Meliodas’ killer instinct wasn’t so heavy and totally worth some anxiety. The crazy part is, Hawk didn’t accuse Zaratras of wetting himself as a joke. He could see for himself in Meliodas’ memories that there was a darkness in the Wrath Sin that wasn’t worth messing with.

2 “Your cooking always sucks!”

Hawk’s whole function in Seven Deadly Sins has always been taking out the trash, which means it’s likely he would be sampling the best and the worst of all the food cooked and served at the Boar Hat more than anyone. He usually doesn’t complain about his scrap heaps, but Hawk surely wasn’t going to let Meliodas get by without acknowledging the gag-worthy cooking.

Though spiteful, Hawk’s comments might have been for the best. Meliodas takes a moment to reflect and wonder why it is that his food comes out so bad—but that wasn’t enough to keep Hawk from sparing Melodias' ribs, though.

1 “Right away, sir. Here you are!”

As Meliodas admitted, Escanor the Lion Sin is the strongest among the Seven Deadly Sins... while the sun is out. And, when it was Gowther’s turn during the Ten Commandments' Great Fighting Festival, he went in knowing full well what he was dealing with, expertly using his time advantage.

Having watched Escanor drop, Hawk wasted not a moment, nor did he spare any show of manners bringing Gowther his glasses when commanded. You could call it disloyal, but you also could say it was smart of him to be subservient after watching Escanor, in his pride and glory, get struck down.
