Meliodas, the Dragon Sin, is the leader and captain of the bunch. On the surface, Meliodas is a child-like prankster but the further the story progresses, the more we find out about Meliodas' dark past. Here are 10 things you didn't know.

10 He is the Dragon Sin of Wrath

Like the other members of the group, Meliodas is assigned a sin. He is the Dragon Sin of Wrath. Likely because of his anger issues. Contrary to his title, he does not anger very easily.

However, when Meliodas grows to be upset, his powers increase and his anger fuels him. He is the captain of Diane (Envy), King (Sloth), Ban (Greed), Merlin (Gluttony), Gowther (Lust), and Escanor (Pride). Each has a symbol tattooed on them corresponding to their sin.

9 He has an obsession with underwear

Seven Deadly Sins Meliodas and Elizabeth

Meliodas is quite the pervert in the anime. He performs panty checks on Elizabeth Liones frequently throughout the series. Upon their first meeting, he gropes her to confirm that she is a female.

Lucky for him, Elizabeth ignores his advances, and despite his utter lack of manners, falls for him anyway. Even when the two are separated and reunited at least, one of the first things Meliodas does is grab Elizabeth inappropriately.

8 He used to be the head of the Ten Commandments

Before Meliodas became captain of the Seven Deadly Sins, he commanded the Demon King's Ten Commandments. When the Demon King took over the Demon Realm, to help him conquer quickly, he gave up half of his power and divided it equally into ten of his most trusted warriors.

Meliodas was given the commandment of love. He rapidly grew stronger and grew to hate the Demon King, rebelling when he could. He eventually left the clan, but not before taking out to of the other commandments before doing so. As punishment, the Demon King placed a curse on him for leaving.

7 He has watched Elizabeth die than 106 lifetimes

The curse the Demon King placed on Meliodas affected his relationship with Elizabeth Liones, the third princess of the Kingdom Liones. When the pair meet at The Boar Hat Elizabeth stumbles inside with rusty armor as her disguise. She informs Melioads that she is searching for The Seven Deadly Sins. She tells him she needs the help of the group to defeat the Holy Knights. They took control of her kingdom and the knights were searching for her. One finds and tries to kill her, but Meliodas stops them, revealing himself as the captain of The Seven Deadly Sins. The two of them head out to find the other sins.

Throughout the series, the bond between Meliodas and Elizabeth blossoms. Their friendship grows into something more and eventually, Meliodas reveals he has known Elizabeth for a very long time. He vows to break the curse that plagues him to watch her die over and over again. The current number of times Meliodas had watched Elizabeth die in past lives was more than 106 times.

6 He owns a tavern

After The Seven Deadly Sins split up, Meliodas starts up his own tavern. He calls it the Boar Hat. To pay for it, he sold his sacred sword, Lostvayne. Contrary to the food being close to inedible, the tavern is quite popular. Since Meliodas did so much traveling, searching for the rest of the sins, his alcohol collection grew to be quite large. The sins all have a strong connection to Meliodas and Boar Hat.

When it is destroyed in battle and later re-built all of the Sins have their own rooms in the remodel. After Meliodas' brief death, before his resurrection, Elizabeth ran the Boar Hat in his stead.

5 He doesn't cook well

Even though Meliodas owns and operates a tavern, he cannot cook very well. Elizabeth tries a meat pie he makes and even she shows a sour face and can barely eat it. Eventually, Ban takes over as the head cook.

Some menu items from the tavern include Meat Pies, Roasted Sand Crawler, Danafor Style Pudding, Meat Pie of the Giants, and a wide variety of ales.

4 He doesn't like killing people

After spending much of his life slaughtering people, Meliodas does not enjoy killing. His time spent in the Ten Commandments he was so violent and fearsome, no demon dared to challenge him. After his Commandment Days, while he is serving as captain for The Sins, he still has to kill as a Holy Knight for the realm.

Naturally, when he retires from both, he does not want to cause any undue suffering. His friends point out that he doesn't even kill people who deserve it. He prefers to show mercy instead.

3 He handpicked the girl's work outfits for the bar

This fact is merely mentioned in passing. We already covered the fact that Meliodas likes Elizabeth in skimpy clothes, so he uses his position as the tavern owner to put the waitresses in clothes aligning with his fashion tastes. The girls don't seem to mind, and the overall outfit is very cute.

Even Gowther likes it. However, the reason he chose them is so he can perform more panty checks on Elizabeth.

2 Ban is one of his closest friends

Meliodas has some pretty strained relationships with a lot of characters in the show. However, Ban and Meliodas have always had a friendly rivalry and close to family relationship. It is apparent the two bond so closely because they are very alike in certain aspects. They both could not save the woman they loved in the past. In the current timeline, both women are alive.

Sometimes Meliodas and Ban argue with each other about whose lady is better and tease each other about their relationships. When Ban finds out about Meliodas and Elizabeth's curse, he vows to do anything he can to help his best friend, including going into purgatory to help him retrieve his lost emotions.

1 He is a pretty calm guy considering his power level

Meliodas is the most powerful Sin and was once considered the most powerful commandment, as well. He is a skilled fighter and has honed his demon skills to perfection. His power levels fluctuate from time to time, but when he pushes himself further, he reaches unimaginable numbers on the power charts.

At his weakest, his power level is 3,370. At the height of his power, his numbers reach a whopping 142,000. Despite his skills and the fact that he is the sin of wrath, Meliodas is a fairly calm guy. He likes to joke around with people and have fun.
