Netflix dropped a new trailer for the film The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light and confirmed its premier date on the streaming service.

The trailer spotlights the intense battles and emotional tone that The Seven Deadly Sins franchise is known for. The story finds Meliodas in conflict with his younger brother, Zeldris, and struggling to stop another Holy War from breaking out.

The film is directed by Takayuki Hamana (Chocolate Underground, The Prince of Tennis - The Two Samurai: The First Game) and stars many veteran voice actors, including Yuki Kaji (SK8 the InfinityFate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia) as Meliodas and Zeldris, Sora Amamiya (Mieruko-chanBattle Girl High School) as Elizabeth and Misaki Kuno (Fairy Tail: Final SeasonMagi: Aventure of Sinbad) as Hawk.

Nakaba Suzuki's The Seven Deadly Sins manga was first published in Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2012 and has produced 41 volumes. It has become a mainstay of the modern manga/anime landscape, having produced a wealth of adaptations and spin-offs. Moreover, it won the Kodansha Manga Award for the shonen category in 2015.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light was originally released in theaters on July 2 in Japan, earning 122 million yen (roughly $1.1 million), and it will premiere on Netflix on Oct. 1. It joins The Seven Deadly Sins anime and The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky as part of the streaming service's extensive anime collection.
