Seth Rollins Defends WWE Universal Title in Avengers: Endgame-Inspired Gear

The following contains spoilers for the 2019 Stomping Grounds WWE event.

At the inaugural WWE Stomping Grounds pay-per-view event, WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins successfully defended his title in a singles match against challenger Baron Corbin. What's more, he did so while sporting ring gear inspired by Marvel Studios' recently-released blockbuster, Avengers: Endgame.

Rollins (real name Colby Lopez) arrived at Stomping Grounds in gear featuring a distinct red, white and black design, as well as the wrestler's logo proudly displayed on the torso. Marvel fans will instantly recognize this design as being evocative of the Quantum Realm "time heist" suits worn by the Avengers in Endgame during their bid to undo Thanos' decimation from the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

Speaking of Thanos, this is not the first time Rollins has used his ring gear to proudly declare his Marvel fandom. This past August (four months after Infinity War's release), the former Tyler Black turned up to the 2018 SummerSlam event in an outfit inspired by the Mad Titan himself. Rollins has represented other fandoms through his gear as well, such as when he lived up to his "Kingslayer" nickname by sporting Game of Thrones-inspired attire at 2018's WrestleMania.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, with Gwyneth Paltrow Pepper Potts, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Benedict Wong as Wong, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Josh Brolin as Thanos. The film is in theaters now, and will soon receive a re-release featuring several new after-credits scenes and a special tribute to the late Stan Lee.
