The Fablemans' Seth Rogen loves cannabis, but even he wouldn't let Steven Spielberg smoke any with him.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Rogen talked about the positive, "familial" relationship he developed with Spielberg on-set and during the 95th Academy Awards ceremony. "We got along very, very, very well," he told Kimmel. "The day after the Oscars, he was literally texting me pictures he took of me and my wife [Lauren Miller] and John Williams sitting behind him. All night he was turning around and taking pictures." Rogen then likened Spielberg to a "kvelling father, in that he loves me and he's in complete denial about how much weed I smoke."

Kimmel, after poking fun at Rogen's unusual tight-lipped behavior about weed with Spielberg, asked if he ever persuaded the director to try some. "No, never, never," Rogen replied, elaborating, "He talked about it. Obviously he'll joke about it and stuff like that, but no he, he... I don't want to be the guy who, like, breaks Steven Spielberg's f***ing brain, you know what I mean?" He then concluded, "Yeah, I don't need to do that."

In The Fablemans, Rogen plays Bennie Loewy, a work colleague of protagonist Sammy Fabelman's (Gabriel LaBelle) father, Burt (Paul Dano). Sammy discovers that Bennie is having an affair with his mom, Mitzi (Michelle Williams). The film, loosely inspired by Spielberg's youth -- including his early interest in moviemaking, his Jewish upbringing and his parents' divorce -- released to positive reviews, with crititcs praising The Fabelmans' performances and Spielberg's direction. Despite taking home the Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Director, The Fablemans did not win any of the 11 Academy Awards it was nominated for. Instead, the two biggest Oscar winners were Everything Everywhere All at Once -- which won seven awards, including Best Picture -- and All Quiet on the Western Front -- which won four.
