WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Servant Season 2, Episode 1, "Doll," which aired Friday on Apple TV+.

Last season on Servant, the mysterious nanny, Leanne Grayson, was introduced, whose presence in the Turner household brought forth strange and possibly supernatural events, including cryptic illnesses and the inexplicable conjuring of a real-life baby to replace a doll. However, these supposed abilities came with baggage in the form of Leanne's cultist "Uncle" George and "Aunt" May, who want Leanne to return home. Despite her initial resistance, at the end of Servant Season 1, Leanne returned to the Church of the Lesser Saints. Although George seemed poised to be the main antagonist last season based on Dorothy's investigation, the ultimate evil of Servant might be the leader of the Church of Lesser Saints herself: Aunt May Markham.

Introduced in the Servant Season 1 finale, "Balloon," May was instrumental in drawing Leanne away from the Turners, crashing Jericho's christening party to remind her that she was their servant, not the Turners'. After Leanne leaves the Turners, replacing the baby with the doll, Dorothy, who's a television reporter, recognizes May from when she covered a stand-off with the Church and ATF agents.

In Servant's Season 2 premiere, "Doll," more hints about May and the cult she led are uncovered thanks to Dorothy's news footage archives. Going through old files, Sean finds a video of May being doused with a shake by unruly kids as she tries to distribute Church reading material. She menacingly stares down the youths, eerily not breaking eye contact.

In another newscast, Dorothy interviews people at May's funeral; however, she faked her death during the raid. During one interview, a man says someone from the Church revived his daughter after a car accident. Julian later reveals that the Church had disbanded after the fire, but given the creepy group hug during the Season 1 finale, it seems the Church is still going strong.

This newfound focus on May and her Church suggests she will be the primary antagonist the Turners will go up against, especially since Dorothy is convinced they kidnapped Jericho. Uncle George's appearance in Servant's debut season had sparked speculation that he was sort of a devil-like figure; however, it seems like he is small potatoes when compared to May, given her leadership position in the Church and strong hold over Leanne.

What's more unsettling is that Leanne's supposed powers may not be unique to her if the news interviews prove to hold any truth. This could mean other Church members, like May, could also be able to revive or curse people. Seeing how Leanne is able to cause suffering in people like Sean, her "aunt" may be able to do the same if the Turners continue to try and bring her to justice.

Starring Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free and Rupert Grint, the second season of Servant premieres Friday, Jan. 15 on Apple TV+, with subsequent episodes debuting each Friday.
