WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Servant Season 2, Episode 6, "Espresso," which aired Friday on Apple TV+.

Last week's episode of Servant ended with a terrifying surprise. Leanne Grayson's creepy Uncle George, who is a member of the cultish Church of the Lesser Saints, followed Sean and Dorothy Turner home to reclaim his niece. This week's episode, "Espresso," starts as George is frantically attempting to locate Leanne. He becomes even more upset when he discovers the plumbing issues in the wine cellar, even going so far as to pray for the family's forgiveness.

It turns out Uncle George is not so much worried about Leanne's condition as he is about the ramifications of her leaving her new job at the Marino household and staying with the Turners. As George explains to Sean about the Church's purpose and Leanne's rebellion against its mission, it becomes clear that Leanne's continued presence at the Turner residence is an "infection" that is cursing the Turners, their home and the Marino family.

After Sean calms George, the cultist explains to Sean that the Church's mission is to, "help people," but only those, "we are told to help." This implies their mission is divine, and God chooses the people who they serve. George also reveals that Leanne rebelled against the orders of the Church in order to become the Turners' nanny in Season 1, and by bringing back Jericho she, "made [the Turners] hope for something that is not possible."

Uncle George insists that Leanne return to the Marinos, who were introduced in the episode "Pizza." Before kidnapping Leanne from her new posting, the Turners discovered Leanne had begun working for the Marinos, including child Sergio and his mother, who appeared to be sick. However, by the end of "Espresso," a different tragedy strikes the Marinos.

As Sean tries to usher Leanne out the door, a television news report announces that gunshots have been heard at the Marino household. The reveal that some sort of violent crime has befallen the Marinos shows that Leanne's absence has seemingly caused some sort of divine retribution in the universe, potentially inflicting great harm onto both families. In other words, Leanne's true duty was to help the Marinos, a family the Church had deemed worthy of their help, but since she is not where she is supposed to be, Leanne is dooming both the Marinos and the Turners, though the doom is taking on different forms.

This devastating turn of events shows why George was praying for the Turners, for as creepy as he seems, George actually cares about what happens to the Turners and wants to avoid another tragedy. He even goes so far as to make a salve for Sean's injured hand to make up for Leanne's initial curse, and he refuses the $200 thousand the family offers him, throwing it into the wine cellar pit. However, what remains to be seen is if Uncle George and the Church will continue to be peaceful towards the Turners now that their actions have led to a deadly catastrophe.

Starring Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free and Rupert Grint, the second season of Servant airs every Friday on Apple TV+.
