WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Servant Season 2, Episode 3, "Pizza," which aired Friday on Apple TV+.

In the first season of Servant, one of the biggest red flags about Julian (Rupert Grint) was his alcoholism. No matter what, he was always in the Turners' cellar, grabbing a bottle of wine. It didn't matter if he was coming up with ways to hide baby Jericho's return from the public or if he was just spending time with Dorothy and Sean, he needed to have a drink.

However, a pivotal moment in Season 2 has made it seem like that this constant craving for alcohol may have foreshadowed an ominous moment for Julian.

Since Leanne arrived, cracks have been forming in the cellar, which got even bigger when Uncle George and Aunt May came by, as if to say the supernatural poison in the family's home was spreading faster and doing more damage. Now, it's a veritable hole as the ground's caving in, which led Sean to put some planks over it. When Julian tries to cross it, he slips, and while he doesn't fall in, the bottle does. At that point, he's taken a hard spill, but his main focus isn't his body but the wine. He struggles to grab the bottle out of the muck and grime, and as he's getting up, he's staring down at the pool. He can spot a bubble or two, and it's as if the pool is breathing, but he brushes it off and goes upstairs to drink.

While this may seem like an accident, the way he grimaced as he stretched matched up to George's speech to Sean. George warned about people paying for their sins if they weren't willing to learn from them and that they'd swallow them up. Since then, Sean's wondered if the cracks, which are spreading across the home, would somehow kill him, but if the hole is any indication, it seems like Julian's going to be the first victim.

The overall theme of Servant is that people must learn from past mistakes or pain will be inflicted. Sean didn't, covering up Jericho's death and not telling a mentally ill Dorothy what she did, which is why he drew Leanne's wrath and got leprosy. Dorothy didn't either, not realizing she killed the kid, which resulted in her going through depression and losing her mind on the news.

To the dark force in the home, Julian's just as complicit, a bad influence always enabling the Turners to do dastardly deeds. It's why many believe the cracks are a metaphor for the mental state of the people in the house, and this hole is something that reiterates their foundation is false. When looking back at George's ominous warning, it seems that Julian's officially marked for death and he may drown in his own sins for not being accountable for the tragedy.

Starring Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free and Rupert Grint, the second season of Servant airs every Friday on Apple TV+.
