Send us your Shelf Porn!

Today's edition of Shelf Porn is an update on some shelves that Chris showed you back in November. Dave Tobin in Limerick, Ireland already had a really cool set-up, but he's done some renovations to make it even cooler. Take a look after the jump.

Remember, if you'd like to see your shelves featured here, just send your write-up and pictures to jkparkin@yahoo.com. And now here's David ...

Hi everyone, my name is Dave Tobin and I'm from Limerick, Ireland. I'm a primary school teacher (ages 4-12) and a musician (www.thefewerthebetter.ie). I collected comics from about age 8 but took a long break over my teenage years until I finished college about nine years ago. I was lucky enough to feature on Robot 6's Shelf Porn feature last Thanksgiving but I've since redone my room to increase its storage. You can see my original Shelf Porn here.

My wife and I live in a quiet suburb in Limerick called Dooradoyle and since we bought here a couple years back I've stored everything in the downstairs room on the left in the above photo. We were married little over a month ago and my wedding present from here was a trip to Ikea to redo my comics/movies room.

These next three photos show the back wall of the room moving left along the outside wall of the house. I'm currently using 9 bookcases, 18 drawerboxes, and 12 DVD towers. Having everything more organised than the previous setup is great as we use this room quite a bit to watch movies in the evenings and the clutter was getting a bit much.

I won't bore you by showing you and telling you about everything on my shelves so I'll just let you look at some individual ones that I'm especially proud of, including my Grant Morrison and Alan Moore shelves.

These two shelves are my unread-stack shelves. I've gotten into a very bad habit of picking up runs on titles and leaving them accumulate. I'm hoping to use my upcoming summer holidays to get through the backlog.

I'm don't have a huge interest in statues or figures so I don't have too many of them in my room compared to some of the other Shelf Porn contributors, but the ones I do have I'm really happy with. Kaneda on the bike from Akira was bought as I was finishing college and meant I didn't eat for a week (well worth it btw), and the Homer Simpson Hulk was bought for me by my wife on one of her first ever trips to a comic shop.

My favourite figure has to be my limited edition Brodie from Mallrats. As far as I'm concerned he's the greatest comicbook-movie hero ever!

Thanks for looking everyone and I hope you've enjoyed my comics room!
