When fans first saw the trailer revealing a regular guy showing up to join X-Force in Deadpool 2, the Internet lit up with all sorts of theories as to who this guy really was. Was he simply a regular Joe who stumbled upon the notice looking for superheroes and thought it would be fun like he said or is there more than meets the eye? Little was known at the time and now that Deadpool 2 has been released, more information has come out concerning exactly who this guy is... but there are still questions that need to be answered!

Fortunately, Peter isn't just a funny character in the summer's latest superhero flick, he's got a presence online and a sizeable backstory to boot. Because we here at CBR need to know more, we decided to dig deep into the darkest corners of the Internet to uncover as much information about Peter as we possibly could. You may have learned a few of these facts by watching the movie, but there is probably some information that escaped your attention, which is why we present to you these 15 Untold Secrets About Deadpool 2's Peter! Also, you should be warned that there will be some SPOILERS ahead, so if you haven't had a chance to watch Deadpool 2 yet, make that happen before reading further!

15 HE'S ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA

Peter W's Twitter Page

Peter may not be the most powerful member of Deadpool's new X-Force, but he certainly is the best marketing tool ever employed by a large studio. As soon as the first trailer dropped featuring the lovable moustachioed man, fans quickly found he had a real-world online presence... and it was amazing! Looking back, there was little information as to who this guy was, but everyone who wanted to see the movie wondered what his deal was.

Fortunately, he is all over Twitter and he even has a LinkedIn profile.

The LinkedIn profile is fully-developed and you have to assume he is getting inquiries for positions simply due to the fact that his profile is better than most people's on the service. Over on Twitter, his page is even more defined, with posts going back to March 24, 2018. He follows and Tweets random people online and comments on general everyday sorts of things. It's all mixed in with details about his "life" and hobbies, as well as some behind-the-scenes shots of the rest of the team in Deadpool 2. Those pics aren't presented as production materials but are simply coming from a guy who enjoys hanging out with a bunch of superheroes. Now that the film has been released, you might think the accounts would die down, but Peter keeps posting and most of the time, his content is hilarious.

14 HE'S A BIG FAN OF ENYA

Peter W and Enya

Digging through Peter's many posts online, certain aspects of his personal life and personality begin to come to light. He's just like the rest of us... a regular guy who enjoys his various hobbies and has specific music tastes. If you judge a book by its cover, Peter looks like he might be a regular family man who tells dad jokes and casually flirts with waitresses. We could guess as to what his favorite type of music is and theories range from The Eagles to LL Cool J, but we know exactly who he prefers thanks to a Twitter post: the man loves him some Enya.

If you aren't familiar with her work, you are probably one of those people who have heard her music a million times but never identified it. Enya is an Irish singer who composes and sings her music in multiple languages. Over the years, her New Age music has gained international attention and she even landed an important track in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring so odds are, you have listened to her music before. She certainly has her fan-base and now we know that Peter counts himself among them.

13 HE HATES SWANS

Peter W Hates Swans

You know how most people love to look at swans because they are graceful and beautiful birds? The Ugly Duckling even turned into one at the end of the book (sorry if we spoiled that one), which just goes to show how much these birds are adored. Of course, most people who appreciate swans have never gotten anywhere near them. Peter will be the first to tell you that swans usually have a nasty and aggressive disposition. They can bite and will attack if they feel threatened. Most people adhere to a standard "look but don't touch" policy, but for Peter, he just hates them to the bottom of his soul.

Peter's Twitter feed is full of comments about his hatred of swans.

Every now and then, he posts a picture of them swimming or a video of a swan attacking a person. The videos are presented in such a way as to make it look like Peter might be the victim of the attacks, but it is never explicitly said it was him. His fear/hatred of swans is an odd aspect of his character for the marketing team to apply to him, but it does help to humanize him somewhat. Everybody hates something and you would probably hate swans too if they were always aggressive towards you.

12 HE ATTENDED THE PRESTIGIOUS METRO UNIVERSITY

Marvel Graduation

One of the things Marvel Comics does throughout many of its books that DC doesn't is use real-world locations for its settings. Nearly every superhero seems to come from New York City, which makes sense seeing as that's where Marvel HQ is located. Artists and writers simply used settings they were familiar with and NYC became the main backdrop for their stories. Over the years, Marvel has expanded to include numerous cities, states and countries, but it all started in New York City. That is, until they introduced a school called Metro College.

Instead of using a legitimate institution as a setting for it characters, Marvel whipped up a brand new one it set within the city. Thanks to his LinkedIn profile, we know that Peter is an alumnus, which means his time with the X-Force isn't his first run-in with the spandex-wearing sort. Other graduates from Metro College include the original X-Men, Johnny Storm, Wyatt Wingfoot, Misty Knight and many others. Peter earned a Bachelor of Security Analysis in 1998 thanks to an entrance scholarship. Sometime during his education, which began in 1994, he must have shared a hallway or even a class with one superhero or another.

11 HE'S AN APIARIST

Peter W Apiarist

One of the best revelations about the character to come to light thanks to his social media posts has got to be the fact that this man loves bees. Peter is an apiarist, which is the fancy way of saying he is a beekeeper and he posts about it constantly. Most of his posts on the subject don't have anything to do with honey and tend to focus on the little critters who make the sweet stuff. Peter's posts on bees offer advice about how to maintain a hive and the best ways to keep your bees happy and productive.

One post shows a sign reading "Certified Bee Friendly Farm," which he highlighed with the hashtags #BeeFriendly #ButNotTooFriendly and an appropriate emoji.

When you are digging through his Twitter and looking at the many, many pictures about beekeeping, you have to give the marketing department credit. They not only created a lovable guy with an interesting hobby, they had the actor, Rob Delaney, go out to a set of hives somewhere and work with bees, fully dressed for the occasion. This just goes to show what a creative marketing team can do with nearly unlimited funds and the license to do whatever they want.

10 HE'S AN AVID BLOGGER

Peter W from Deadpool 2

Peter is certainly an interesting character for a movie about violent revenge, protecting an angry kid with hot fists and traveling through time to protect the ones you love. He's not a superhero and there really is no reason whatsoever for him to be anywhere near Deadpool or the other members of the X-Force. He showed up for the interview because he thought it would be fun, but there might be a little more going on in Peter's life we don't know anything about. He works as a Regional Sales Manager at Excalibur Cutlery Co., but his work doesn't seem to be fulfilling his life in a way that satisfies him.

Like many people, he has turned to the Internet for some relief, which he attains through blogging. It's unclear if he is blogging for a little extra money or simply to get out of his comfort zone and try something new. Interestingly, the first article he published on his LinkedIn profile is exactly about that! "Comfort Zones and You" talks about how Peter looks to break free from his comfort zone and try something new... like joining a squad of superheroes and fighting the bad guys! His other posts are about all sorts of things like balancing your work life and your personal life, which is another way Peter is like everyone else making him the type of superhero we can all relate to.

9 THINGS MIGHT NOT BE GOING SO WELL AT HOME

peter deadpool 2 wife

We don't know a lot about Peter's relationship with his wife, Susan, but there have been a few rumors spreading around that things might not be going to well back at Peter's house. In one of his blog posts, he talks about balancing work life and home life by saying he and his wife are spending less time together. After all, he has his new night-gig with the X-Force and she spends a lot of her personal time with her personal trainer.

This "private" personal trainer who keeps her busy spending "a ton of extra time working on squat thrusts."

Peter's friends may have been concerned reading the blog post after seeing the picture of the three of them hanging out together. Does Susan look a little too comfortable with her trainer, Gus? We don't want to make any accusations here, but Peter might be having some trouble at home. There was also the brief comment he made to Deadpool about making sure Domino had his contact information... what could that have been about? A friendly means of contacting one another or something else? Perhaps he was just looking for a personal trainer of his own. Whatever the case, let's hope the rumor is nothing more than that and Susan and Peter continue to live happily together even if they spend most of their time apart.

8 MOST OF HIS TIME ON SCREEN WAS IMPROVISED

Peter W Joining X-Force Deadpool 2

There's no arguing Deadpool 2 is an action superhero film, but that doesn't mean it isn't one of the funniest flicks to be released in 2018. Just about everyone on the set from Ryan Reynolds to T. J. Miller have established themselves as people with great senses of humor, and a lot of the new characters are played by veteran comedians. Take for example, Peter, who is played by a regular in the television sitcom genre, Rob Delaney. It turns out, most of what Delaney said in the film came straight out of his brain and not from a script.

This makes sense when you think about it. Sure, the writers could have scripted every single word of dialogue and Delaney could have gone with it — that's what most actors do in a movie. They could have done that, but instead, they opted to have Delaney just run with the character. We have to imagine their instructions to him involved something like "he's a regular guy who is trying to overcome his fears and get out of his comfort zone but is afraid of everything... oh, and he loves bees!" Even if it was more detailed than that, whatever they did worked. Peter's dialogue is some of the funniest in the film and that's saying something for a Deadpool movie.

7 THE WRITERS WANT A PETER SPIN-OFF

deadpool-2-sequel-cable-budget-interview

Originally, Peter was meant to be little more than a throwaway hero joke character. The plan was to create a character who would show up looking for work and be quickly disposed of by having acidic spit vomited all over him. Simple enough, but when fans began reacting to the character in the trailer in such a positive way, the writers changed their minds. Originally, Deadpool 2 writer Rhett Reese was supposed to play the character as a cameo but ended up recasting the role to Delaney.

It's a good thing they did that because Peter has some serious staying power.

That endurance may one day translate into an actual spin-off film if the writers have their way. Nobody expected Peter to become the star of the film like he has, but seeing as fans want to see more than the mere five minutes he had on film, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Ryan Reynolds have been vocal about the possibility of giving Peter his own franchise. Granted, this isn't likely, seeing as he really was a one-off character meant to die in the first few minutes he had on screen, but stranger things have happened in Hollywood and you never know what the studio will do after fans start a huge petition demanding something. Just sayin'.

6 THE HEADSHOT IN THE MOVIE WAS REAL-ISH

Peter W Headshot Deadpool 2

It only saw a brief moment of screentime when Deadpool asked if he was being catfished by Peter, but his headshot made it to the final cut of the film. In a way, that headshot was very real, seeing as he ended up getting the job. When the writers first pitched the character, they began looking for someone who could play the role of a regular looking guy who could be your dad next door or the mid-level manager of a small cutlery firm. It actually took them a while to find someone, which is one of the reasons Rhett Reese was on deck to play the character until Ryan Reynolds showed them Rob Delaney's headshot.

As soon as they saw the photograph, they knew they found their guy. He had just the look they were going for and he was cast immediately without having to come in and read for the part. When Deadpool looks down and sees a headshot in the film, it's essentially a recreation of the event that ended up getting Peter the job, which is why we are counting this as one more 4th Wall Break in a movie full of them. The best part of the whole gag is that is his real headshot. If you look at his page on the ARG Talent Agency website that represents him, it's there in beautiful color.

5 HIS CULT FOLLOWING

Rob Delaney

When it came time to cast the role for Peter, the writers and producers had a bit of a problem. They wanted to cast the right person but didn't want too much star power behind the role. If they cast someone like Terry Crews to play Peter instead of Bedlam, it wouldn't have worked — too many people know who Crews is and he just wouldn't have fit into the role even with Dad credits to his name. It had to be someone else... someone who could grow out a superb mustache and leave people wondering just who was this guy behind the bristles. It turned out to be Rob Delaney.

Wait... who? Rob Delaney isn't as well known in the United States as he works across the pond in the UK. But just because he wasn't famous Stateside before now doesn't mean he hasn't long been an incredibly talented and accomplished sitcom star. Delaney is the star of Catastrophe, a British sitcom about a guy who arrives in the UK and knocks up a local Irish woman he ends up falling for. If you don't know him outside of Deadpool 2 just yet, do yourself a favor and pick up/binge-watch the first season of Catastrophe and you will be as excited as fans of the series were when they saw Peter in the trailers.

4 HE COULD BE PETE WISDOM

Pete Wisdom

All this talk about Peter being a regular guy with no superpowers and no special skills might just be a whole lot of balderdash! As soon as people learned the name of the character was Peter W. (as it is listed in social media), fans of Marvel Comics tapped into their memories and pulled out the only name they thought it could be: Pete Wisdom. That's right, Peter W. might just be one of the greatest secret agents in comics.

Could he really have been catfishing us the whole time and be a wolf in sheep's clothing?

In the books, Pete Wisdom is a super-powered secret agent who works for a British organization called Black Air. He appeared over the years as an antagonist to most of the Mutants associated with the X-Force, so there is some speculation online that our lovable Sugar Bear might just be a bad guy in disguise. There are even some parts of Deadpool 2 supporting this theory. Peter was the only one other than Deadpool and Domino to safely land his parachute in the deadly high winds, which is damning considering even Wade had trouble and he has Special Ops training. Could he really have been catfishing us the whole time and be a wolf in sheep's clothing? Only time — and an eventual sequel will tell for sure.

3 WADE HAD A GOOD REASON TO SAVE HIM

Deadpool 2 Peter W on the Helicopter

If you watched Deadpool 2 through to the end credits and, let's face it, you probably did, you were treated to five additional scenes involving Wade's trip through time to make things right. After getting Cable's time travel device repaired, he doesn't hand it back to the cybernetically-enhanced Mutant, but instead travels back in time to save Vanessa. He then puts right the bad decisions in his and Ryan Reynolds' professional career before going back to the parachute drop to save one member of the team. He could have saved them all, but only Peter got the rescue and there's a reason why.

When asked why he saved Peter and none of the other members of his team, Ryan Reynolds had a pretty good reason for it. He recalled the moment in the helicopter when he helped calm Peter's nerves by saying "I’d never let anything happen to you, sugar bear." It turns out, he wasn't just trying to calm him down, he was also making him a promise. Reynolds described it as a promise he made to him earlier in the movie and his death was nagging on his conscience so he went back and saved him. It's not clear if Deadpool felt guilty or if it was Reynolds himself, but with so many 4th Wall Breaks and Reynolds being Deadpool, it really doesn't matter.

2 THERE'S A GOOD CHANCE WE WILL SEE HIM AGAIN

Deadpool

At the end of the movie's after-credits scenes, Peter is alive and well and heading back home. It looks like he may have had enough of this hero business and you can't really blame him... though he did stick the landing, which is saying a lot considering hardly any of the other members of X-Force managed the same. With Peter gone, there is literally no reason whatsoever for him to return for Deadpool 3. None at all. That isn't to say he won't be showing his gloriously mustached face in the sequel because odds are, he absolutely will!

The fans love him and for that reason alone, he is all but guaranteed to make an entrance, even if it's only a cameo.

Let's face it, he was one of the best breakout characters in the film. Did anyone shed a tear when Shatterstar got a little too intimate with the helicopter blades? No, of course not. we all got a little choked up when Peter kicked the bucket and shed tears of joy when he was saved. The fans love him and for that reason alone, he is all but guaranteed to make an entrance, even if it's only a cameo. Granted, if it turns out he truly is Pete Wisdom, he could even become the big bad in a future film, but we aren't prepared to see an evil version of Peter just yet.

1 HE WAS THE MOST HEROIC CHARACTER IN THE MOVIE

Peter-Deadpool-2-X-Force

For a movie all about superheroes who put their lives on the line for people they don't even know or care about, it's a pretty easy call to say Peter was the most heroic of them all. As far as we know, despite some of the rumors covered in this article, Peter has no powers to speak of and no training to rely on to keep him safe from harm. That doesn't stop him from leaving his home one morning and showing up to an interview to join a team of superpowered beings called the X-Force.

In any other movie, Peter would have been doing X-Force's accounting or bringing them cups of coffee, but in Deadpool 2, he literally jumped into the action. Sure, he died in a horribly gory and disturbing way, but that just goes to show an intense level of heroic courage in a man who was afraid of everything, including people with tattoos, swans, fist fights and particularly dark clouds. He's also not fond of "the scratchy sound warm-up pants make when the legs rub together" but he managed to get out there anyway. When you consider Deadpool can heal from any injury, Peter far outclasses him as a hero.
