Marvel's "Secret Wars" #1 went on sale in print and digital formats this past Wednesday, nearly seven months following its initial announcement last fall at New York Comic Con, and after years of build during writer Jonathan Hickman's "Avengers" and "New Avengers" runs. So far, it looks like that work is paying off: CBR can report that "Secret Wars" #1 set a Marvel record for highest single-day digital comics sales.

"'Secret Wars' has not only set new records in scale, but [SVP, Print & Digital Publishing] David Gabriel tells me that 'Secret Wars' #1 has now set a new record for single day digital sales and downloads," Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso told CBR. "'Secret Wars' #1 is now the best-selling single day Marvel digital comic book of all time."

Marvel declined to share specific numbers for "Secret Wars" #1 digital sales. For much more from Alonso on "Secret Wars" #1, read this week's installment of CBR's weekly Q&A column, AXEL-IN-CHARGE.
