Star Wars legend Harrison Ford will make his studio animated family film debut in the sequel to The Secret Life of Pets. Details about his role are being kept under wraps.
According to Deadline, Ford will lead a cast that includes Tiffany Haddish, Patton Oswalt, Nick Kroll and Pete Holmes, as well as returning stars Kevin Hart, Jenny Slate, Eric Stonestreet, Ellie Kemper, Lake Bell, Dana Carvey, Hannibal Buress and Bobby Moynihan. Notably missing from the cast list is Louis CK, who played the lead role in first Secret Life of Pets film. Patton Oswald is thought to be replacing him in light of the accusations of sexual misconduct made against CK.
The Secret Life of Pets 2 comes on the back of the first film's success. It broke the record for best opening weekend for an original film and grossed $875 million worldwide. The franchise hails from Illumination Entertainment, the studio that created Despicable Me and the cultural juggernaut Minions.
Directed by Despicable Me’s Chris Renaud, The Secret Life of Pets 2 is written by Brian Lynch and scheduled to hit theaters June 7, 2019.
