Marvel Cinematic Universe fan-favorite and Hollywood icon Samuel L. Jackson gave fans an update on both The Marvels and Secret Invasion.

Jackson discussed his upcoming returns to the MCU as Nick Fury during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! When asked if he was done filming Secret Invasion, Jackson replied, "No. I'm not done. I am on my way back to London at some point in August. But I got to go back and do stuff for The Marvels and then I got to do stuff for Secret Invasion."

Based on the Marvel Comics' character first appearing in 1963's Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #1 and created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, Jackson first appeared in the MCU as Nick Fury in 2008's Iron Man. His introduction came during the film's post-credits sequence that alluded to the eventual formation of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The character has since appeared in 11 MCU films to date as well as the animated series What If...?, and will next appear in The Marvels and on Secret Invasion.

Jackson also previously remarked on the expanded role he is taking on in Phase 4 of the MCU, saying, "When I was in London just now, it was [Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania], and [The Marvels] was happening, and we were getting ready to do [Secret Invasion]. So it was like, three Marvel movies on one lot. I was kind of running around from place to place." Jackson went on to comment on continuing past his initial nine-film deal with Marvel Studios, which was set to end with 2019's Captain Marvel. Jackson said, "You know, you go 'How long am I going to stay alive to make nine pictures?' Because it used to take a while to make a movie. It still kind of does, but people make two or three of them at a time. In the Marvel Universe... it's crazy."

Details surrounding the upcoming Secret Invasion series have been few and far between, though many fans have clung to the theory that the show will take place during The Blip, the five-year period following Thanos' iconic Snap which wiped out half of all life in existence. Apart from Jackson's reprisal as Fury, the series will also bring back Don Cheadle as James Rhodes, aka War Machine. Alongside the returning actors, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Olivia Coleman are all set to make their own MCU debuts on the series.

The Marvels is a sequel to Captain Marvel and will bring together Brie Larson's Carol Danvers and Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, along with Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau. Director Nia DaCosta previously commented on balancing the three powerhouse characters' respective stories, saying, "Captain Marvel has a history from the first film, Kamala will have her Ms. Marvel show, and Monica Rambeau, we’ve only seen her a little bit in WandaVision." She continued, "What part of the journey do we need to see for each of them? How do we honor the part of the story they're at in terms of the canon, while also within our story making them equal?"

The Marvels arrives in theaters on July 28. Secret Invasion does not currently have a release date but is expected to premiere sometime in 2023.
