The Disney+ series starring Nick Fury has been revealed to be Secret Invasion. Numerous Marvel characters could be linked to the Nick Fury series, but longtime comic readers will likely expect a number of them to be Skrulls. The Secret Invasion crossover event tore the lid off Marvel Comics with the reveal several major heroes were the shape-shifting Skrulls.

Now that the Skrulls are a major part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and already impersonating key MCU heroes, this series will likely reference the comic books. A number of the heroes the Skrulls impersonated are in the MCU now or could be soon. Here are 10 characters that were revealed beforehandーor would most likely beーSkrulls in Disney+'s Secret Invasion.

10 Elektra

Elektra Skrull New Avengers

The reveal that kicked off the Secret Invasion event was the shocking death of Elektra. The former assassin died once before - actually a few times, just one thing that doesn't make sense about Elektra - but this time might have been the most confusing. Upon her death, she was revealed to be a Skrull. This upset everything the Avengers believed about her and their time with the character and set the stage for a major Skrull invasion of Earth, long in the planning.

9 Cobalt Man

Cobalt

Cobalt Man isn't nearly as prominent a character as Elektra, but this longtime villain's revelation as a Skrull was still a surprise. Ralph Roberts created a suit of armor made from cobalt to harness the material's inherent radioactive power. He modeled his suit on Iron Man's, but his criminal career was pretty middling. He had been thought dead when he appeared during the Secret Invasion storyline. His resurrection was quickly revealed to be a ruse by the Skrulls.

8 Cyclone

Another low-level villain that came back to prominence - albeit as a Skrull - was Cyclone. Cyclone first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #143 back in 1975, created by Gerry Conway and Ross Andru, one of the Silver Age's best Spider-Man artists. He created a special suit that allowed him to generate vortexes above 300 miles an hour, which let him fly and naturally sent his opponents flying as well. Captain Marvel killed the Skrull imposter.

7 Sharon Ventura

Sharon Ventura has a long history in Marvel Comics, which made her revelation as a Skrull alarming. Sharon was originally the second Ms. Marvel, and then later became the Thing after an accident bombarded her with the same radiation that affected Ben Grimm.

6 Dum Dum Dugan

Dum Dum Dugan

Dum Dum Dugan might be an interesting choice to have show up in Secret Invasion. The last time MCU audiences saw him was just after World War II in the Agent Carter series. This member of the Howling Commandos and officer of S.H.I.E.L.D. was ambushed and replaced by a Skrull operative in the comics' lead up to the event. It isn't very certain to play out the same in the Disney+ series, but it would be a fun way to bring the character back for an encore.

5 Edwin Jarvis

Another character related to Agent Carter and a major figure in the Secret Invasion is Edwin Jarvis. The butler of Tony Stark (Howard in the series) had been a longstanding staple of the Avengers, including being the custodian of the old Avengers Mansion. The original mansion had been destroyed, and a new one just rebuilt when Jarvis was revealed as a Skrull in the vert first issue of the crossover event. Jarvis had been a Skrull for some time, and the real Jarvis is later found alive.

4 Black Bolt

The Black Bolt Super Skrull in Marvel Comics' Secret Invasion

Black Bolt is the Inhumans leader, gifted with a voice that leads to many destructive feats. He couldn't voice the shocking truth that he had been replaced by a Skrull, though. The Skrull impersonating Black Bolt was actually a new breed of Super Skrull and the only survivor of Galactus' destruction of the Skrull homeworld. This Skrull was later killed in battle by Namor, Prince of Atlantis. The Skrulls intended to use the real Black Bolt as a weapon against his own people.

3 Spider-Woman

Spider-Woman is a Skrull in Secret Invasion

Jessica Drew is one of the most prominent members of the Avengers to be revealed as a Skrull during the event. At the time, she was without her spider-powers, and the opportunity to get them back became the bait in a trap that ended with her abduction and replacement. She would eventually be freed and regain her powers as well.

Spider-Woman isn't in the MCU yet but could be on the way on the Sony side of things. She likely won't play the same role, if any at all, in the Secret Invasion streaming series.

2 Hank Pym

Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, hasn't had the easiest ride in his time with the Avengers. From creating Ultron (only one of Ant-Man's worst inventions) to just being a jerk, he's had many downs than ups. Arguably one of the worst was his impersonation by a Skrull. Flashbacks in Secret Invasion #1 reveal that a Skrull had replaced him before the Civil War events, which recontextualizes his actions and behavior during that seminal Marvel event.

1 Captain Marvel

Mar-Vell as Captain Marvel with Captain America and Vision

Perhaps the most shocking reveal in Secret Invasion - and the one with the most promise in the MCU - is Captain Marvel. Mar-Vell's death remains one of the most poignant moments in Marvel history. Fans were shocked when he returned before the Secret Invasion storyline, seemingly alive. The revelation of his being a Skrull explained the incongruity. Still, it helped eventually set up one of the best developments in recent Marvel history: Carol Danvers taking over the role of Captain Marvel.
