Maria Hill will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Secret Invasion, but that doesn't mean it's going to be easy.A photo of Maria Hill actor Cobie Smulders was taken from the set of Secret Invasion, where Smulders can be seen receiving battle-damage makeup. Hill appears to have been cut across the bridge of her nose, as a thin bloody scar can be seen being applied, according to the photo that has been circulating on social media. The photo offers little to no details regarding Hill's role in the series or who bloodied her, but it would appear unlikely such a wound will keep the S.H.I.E.L.D veteran down for long.RELATED: Secret Invasion Set Video, Photo Reveal New Info About the Marvel Series

Smulders was confirmed to reprise her role as Hill when it was announced the actor would be joining the cast of Secret Invasion late last year. Secret Invasion will mark Smulders first appearance as Hill in roughly three years, as the former Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. was last seen in the MCU during 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home.

More photos from the set of Secret Invasion have offered glimpses at two other characters who will be joining Smulders in the series. Samuel L. Jackson's former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury, was spotted sporting a new look on set, as the photo shows Fury dressed in civilian attire with a bushy beard and missing his signature eye-patch. Photos of Emilia Clarke's character also surfaced online, with the actor having been photographed in costume filming her MCU debut. Details of Clarke's role are currently unknown, though a now-deleted video suggests the actor will be crossing paths with Smulders' Hill.

More information on Secret Invasion could be on its way, as filming on the series is reportedly close to wrapping. Although Marvel has yet to confirm how far along production currently is, the report seems to suggest that Secret Invasion will meet its targeted premiere window later this year. However, an update from Marvel Japan appears to indicate that Secret Invasion and the second season of the animated series What If...? have been cut from Marvel's planned 2022 lineup after both series were seen missing from an image promoting recent and upcoming releases.

As of writing, Secret Invasion remains slated to premiere its first of six episodes on Disney+ on a yet-to-be-announced date later this year.
