Nick Fury's latest, potentially undercover, fashion statement was recently spotted on the set of Marvel's Secret Invasion.
The BBC revealed photos of Samuel L. Jackson filming a scene in Leeds, UK, wearing a grey coat and green winter hat, suggesting that the town is "doubling for Russia" based on background details. The character's drastic appearance change also involves eschewing Fury's eyepatch to showcase his damaged eye, all while sporting a thick, grey beard past his chin.
Fury's bearded, patch-less look was revealed during Disney+ Day in a brief Secret Invasion teaser. Since then, new photos have come out showing the cast filming Marvel's latest TV show in England, such as using Halifax's Piece Hall building as a stand-in for a Russian "National Unity Day" gathering. Other photos have not only revealed Jackson, but also a returning Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill and Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke as an unknown character.
According to reports, filming on Secret Invasion is almost nearing completion. The show will adapt Brian Michael Bendis' 2008 comic book series of the same name, which revealed that Earth's various superhero teams had been infiltrated by shapeshifting aliens known as Skrulls. 2019's Captain Marvel introduced the Skrulls to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as Skrull leader Talos, played by Ben Mendelsohn, who will return in Secret Invasion.
Marvel recently dropped an official trailer for Moon Knight, which stars Oscar Isaac as the titular vigilante, who struggles with dissociative identity disorder, and Ethan Hawke as cult leader Arthur Harrow. Also in development are She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel, both of which are set to drop later this year.
She-Hulk, starring Tatiana Maslany as the eponymous character and Bruce Banner's cousin Jennifer Walters, is expected to be a legal comedy with occasional fourth wall breaks, including a scene of She-Hulk talking to Kevin Feige. Ms. Marvel, meanwhile, is currently undergoing reshoots but will explore how teenager Kamala Khan gained superpowers and adopted Carol Danvers' former title as her own. Actor Imani Vellani will also appear alongside Brie Larson and WandaVision's Teyonah Parris in the upcoming MCU movie The Marvels.
Secret Invasion does not yet have a release date, but is expected to premiere sometime later this year on Disney+.
