The events of Marvel's Armor Wars series will be directly linked to another major Phase 5 TV adaptation.As reported by The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit on Twitter, Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige revealed during the D23 Expo panel event that "Secret Invasion will roll into Armor Wars." It was also confirmed that the Disney+ series, which will star Don Cheadle as James "Rhodey" Rhodes, will consist of six parts and will start filming in 2023. Aside from Cheadle as Colonel James Rhodes/War Machine, who briefly cameoed in Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and was featured in D23's Secret Invasion teaser, Marvel confirmed that Armor Wars will bring back Walter Goggins as Ant-Man & The Wasp arms dealer Sonny Burch. A revised series logo was also revealed at D23, with the "o" in Armor Wars glowing bright blue to resemble Tony Stark's arc reactor. The show borrows its title from a 1987-1988 comic arc of the same name where Stark, after learning that his suits' designs have been sold to known Marvel supervillains, takes extreme measures to retrieve them or ensure they aren't used for the sake of villainy.

Don Cheadle Stars in Armor Wars

Secret Invasion, inspired by the 2008 Marvel event comic, will follow Nick Fury as he and Skrull ally Talos attempt to thwart and expose a Skrull invasion of Earth. Alongside Cheadle and a returning Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Secret Invasion's trailer teased the arrival of new characters played by Emilia Clarke, Olivia Coleman and Kingsley Ben-Adir. a full-bodied costume design for Fury's undercover look was revealed via a new Secret Invasion-themed Funko collectible, which will be available to purchase at New York Comic Con in October.

Alongside Secret Invasion, D23 unveiled a surprise trailer for the black and white horror-themed Marvel special Werewolf By Night, which will drop on Disney+ on Oct. 7. In addition to starring Gael García Bernal and Laura Donnelly as Jack Russell and Elsa Bloodstone, the trailer featured a brief glimpse of the anti-hero swamp monster Man-Thing. D23 also showcased upcoming Phase 5 films like Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, as well as the Echo miniseries, spun off from last year's Hawkeye, though no official trailers were provided to the public. Additionally, Marvel confirmed the lineup for Phase 5's Thunderbolts team, which will pair Bucky Barnes with The Falcon & The Winter Soldier's U.S. Agent, Ant-Man & The Wasp's Ghost and Black Widow's Yelena Belova, Red Guardian and Taskmaster.

Secret Invasion will premiere on Disney+ in 2023. Armor Wars does not yet have an official release date.
