Emilia Clarke's role in Disney+'s Secret Invasion series may have been revealed.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, Clarke will reportedly appear in Secret Invasion as a Skrull from Marvel Comics known as G'iah/Gloria Warner, though this has not been officially confirmed. Created by Robbie Thompson and Nico Henrichon, G'iah made her Marvel Comics debut in Meet the Skrulls #1 in 2019. The character initially helped her fellow Skrulls with their invasion of Earth, though she would end up switching sides after seeing the brutal lengths her people would go to for their mission.

Secret Invasion is a six-episode miniseries based on the 2008 Marvel Comics storyline of the same name by Brian Michael Bendis, Leinil Francis Yu, Mark Morales and Laura Martin. The storyline, which consisted of eight issues, saw the Skrulls use their shapeshifting abilities to invade Earth and secretly assume the identities of several superheroes.

The Skrulls were formally introduced to the MCU in 2019's Captain Marvel, and Ben Mendelsohn's Talos and fellow Skrull Soren, portrayed by Sharon Blynn, returned briefly for a post-credit scene in Spider-Man: Far From Home. In a recent interview, Cobie Smulders, who will reprise her role as S.H.I.E.L.D agent Maria Hill, revealed that Skrulls had been active on the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Earth for decades.

The Skrulls Have Infiltrated the MCU

"I mean when we think about the world that they're in, the Skrulls have been around since we saw them in Captain Marvel," she said. "They've been building in numbers. And are they good? Are they bad? We're gonna find out in the show. But there's certainly a lot of them and so it sort of turns into this, 'Can I trust you? Can I not trust you?' And it's really cool. It's certainly fraught with a lot of tension."

Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his MCU role as Nick Fury for the series, with a set video from January reuniting him and Mendelsohn after the two appeared together in Captain Marvel, which took place in the 1990s. Jackson has shared several updates from the Secret Invasion set, with one showing him without Fury's signature eyepatch. Along with the photo, Jackson's caption read, "Patch, no patch, no scar, no scar. Old School Fury Day, gotta find the Groove!" This led to speculation that the series would feature flashbacks to a younger Fury earlier in the MCU timeline.

The cast also includes Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo who are set to appear in undisclosed roles, though it was reported that Ben-Adir would appear as a central antagonist. While Colman's role has not yet been confirmed, it was rumored that the Academy Award-winning actor will portray a gender-swapped incarnation of the Marvel Comics hero Union Jack.

Secret Invasion arrives on Disney+ in Spring 2023.
