Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Chloe Bennet has firmly debunked rumors about her reprising her role as Quake for Marvel's Secret Invasion series.

Bennet commented on the persistent rumors during a recent Instagram story, noting, "I have avoided saying anything like this in general, on social media or whatever, because I thought maybe it would blow over, but it has not. I am in no way attached or involved, even at all or a little bit, in the Secret Invasion Marvel thing. I honestly don't even know really what that is... I am only coming on here to say this because it has gotten to the point that every day I'm getting hundreds of messages about this... I'm now getting like approached in person. Today it was in the tampon aisle at Target... So I figured I would just clear the air."

For the uninitiated, Bennet played the Inhuman superhero Daisy Johnson/Quake/Skye across all seven seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and has voiced the character in multiple animated shorts, as well as the animated film Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors. Her fan-favorite status has, in turn, fueled rumors of Quake's imminent return in a future Marvel Cinematic Universe project. So far, though, there's been nothing of substance to back those claims.

Her Secret Invasion post isn't the first occasion on which Bennet has publicly shot down rumors of Quake appearing in an upcoming MCU film or series, either. Shortly before Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiered its final season in 2020, she addressed the idea of the character getting a Secret Warriors spinoff on Disney+, tweeting, "I wish [those rumors] were true... but they aren’t."

Secret Invasion itself loosely adapts the 2008 Marvel Comics storyline of the same name, where members of the shape-shifting Skrull race invade Earth and even masquerade as the planet's superheroes. Granted that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ended with Quake and a team of fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. agents traveling through space, Secret Invasion would be as logical a place as any to bring the character back to the screen in live-action. Then again, that's assuming Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is still considered MCU canon, which is a whole other discussion on its own.

Marvel's Secret Invasion series has yet to receive a premiere date.
