Originally slated to be published through DC's Vertigo imprint, Second Coming proved controversial for its treatment of Jesus Christ, who in the book was set to return to Earth and serve as the sidekick to a hero named Sunstar. As a result of that controversy, the book was canceled at DC before moving to Ahoy Comics, where it ran for six issues. Ahoy Comics has now revealed exclusively to CBR that a sequel, titled Second Coming: Only Begotten Son, will release later this year.

In addition to the announcement, Ahoy Comics gave CBR an exclusive preview of Mark Russell, Richard Pace and Leonard Kirk's Second Coming: Only Begotten Son #1, which you can see below alongside the solicitation information for the book. The preview shows the origin of Sunstar, parodying that of Superman in the process.
