Bucky Barnes has come a long way since his introduction in Captain America: The First Avenger, but fans still have lingering questions concerning his depiction and the direction the Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken him. Actor Sebastian Stan recently answered a long-asked question about the character's journey from that first film to his most recent appearance in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

In a segment on Esquire, Stan commented on the question, "Do you feel Bucky Barnes got justice?" The MCU star said, "He had plenty of moments and we got him to a good place, so that's what I'm happy about."

Barnes was introduced as a close friend of Steve Rogers, formerly Captain America. The two fought together side-by-side before he seemingly perished during an assault on a HYDRA train during World War II. He was revived and brainwashed-- reshaped into the Winter Soldier, a deadly assassin kept in cold storage until he needed to be activated for a mission. In this way, he was kept alive and in his youth for 70 years. That changed in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, when his encounter with Rogers ultimately placed him on the first step to recovery, which he was able to complete after being taken to Wakanda.

Barnes last appeared in the Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and was shown attempting to redeem himself for a career as an assassin. A fourth instalment in the MCU's Captain America franchise is in development, with Sam Wilson -- the new Captain America -- taking focus. While star Anthony Mackie has officially signed on for the film, it is uncertain if Stan will return for the upcoming project, as details concerning the film are scarce.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier creator and head writer Malcolm Spellman is writing the script for Captain America 4. In addition, it was reported that Sharon Carter's role, played by Emily VanCamp, in the upcoming film was changed, owing to the overwhelming negative response from fans in regards to Carter's role as the Power Broker in the Disney+ series. Instead, the film will introduce a new supervillain to take on the MCU's newest star-spangled superhero.

All episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are now available for streaming on Disney+.
