Sean Phillips has posted previews of the upcoming Art of Sean Phillips book, which arrives in September from Dynamite Entertainment.

One of the noteworthy things about these images is that Phillips (or more likely, a friend or member of his family) must have kept all the comics he produced as a kid. Most of us probably did this kind of stuff as children, but few would ever bother to preserve it (that said, someone in Brandon Graham's family clearly has, too). Phillips' kith and kin must have foreseen his inevitable rise to greatness: Indeed, it's within a just a few short years that Sean was being published professionally by DC Thomson, while still a teenager. A couple of years later, Phillips would be working for 2000AD, the usual launchpad for international success for U.K. creators.

Now we know why Sean has been asking his followers on Twitter for the loan of old comics and original art for a while now. His co-writer on the book, Eddie Robson, has interviewed more than 30 of Phillips' key collaborators over the length of his career (listing some of them on his Twitter account). There's a full announcement for the project at Comic Bastards, and even more preview art at Dynamite's site.

It's more than 300 pages of Sean Phillips' art, much of which will be seldom-seen or never-seen-before. Put like that, it's a bit of a no-brainer, isn't it?
