Marvel Studios may not be at this year's Comic-Con International, but the studio is still making waves following the firing of Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn on Friday. Now, his brother Sean Gunn is speaking out regarding his brother's past remarks, and how the Marvel Cinematic Universe ultimately helped him to grow into a better person.Last week, a batch of Gunn's old tweets resurfaced that focused on such topics as rape and pedophilia. The jokes themselves were rather disturbing and led to Gunn deciding to delete the tweets. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done and even after acknowledging his past mistakes from nearly a decade ago in a sincere apology, Disney decided to cut ties with Gunn, leaving the future of Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 unclear for the time being. More importantly, Disney's decision to fire Gunn has led to plenty of debate on social media, and now his brother is speaking out, offering up his own opinions about the ordeal.RELATED: James Gunn Fired From Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3In a series of tweets Saturday afternoon, Sean Gunn started things off by throwing his support behind his brother. "I hope it goes without saying that I love and support my brother James," he began. "And I'm quite proud of how kind, generous, and compassionate he is with the people in his life, whether they are friends, family, colleagues, fans, or strangers."He goes on to describe how he knew James was destined to be an artist and tell stories since they were children. However, there were moments throughout his life where he failed to find his voice through his artistic outlets. "The struggle to find that voice was sometimes clunky, misguided, or downright stupid, and sometimes wonderful, moving, and hilarious," he continued. It was ultimately when he landed the Guardians gig that Sean truly began to see his brother flourish as a storyteller, realizing that he didn't need to maintain an "edge" in order to captivate and shock audiences. For Sean, Guardians made James grow into not only a better artist -- but also a better person. "So I guess my hope is that fans continue to watch and appreciate the Guardians movies, not despite the fact that the filmmaker used to be kind of a jackass, but because of it."You can read the full thread below.

Sean is now the second Guardians cast member to come out in support of Gunn. Just yesterday, Dave Bautista made it clear that he was not on board with Disney's decision to fire Gunn. The actor acknowledged that Gunn had made past mistakes, but that the Gunn he knows is one of the most "loving, caring, good natured" people he knows, and he isn't okay with what is currently happening to him.
