Seagal's Lawman May Have Been Obtained Illegally

Did Steven Seagal steal the idea for his A&E reality show Lawman? A Superior Court judge isn't saying that's definitely the case, but he is refusing to rule out the possibility...

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gregory Alarcon last week refused to throw out a lawsuit against Seagal and A&E on behalf of a company called Idea Factory, who claim that they pitched Seagal with an idea very similar to Lawman back in 2007, before also taking the idea to A&E; the company's multi-million dollar lawsuit alleges that it had a deal to make the show, but that the star and channel went ahead without it. Alarcon's ruling isn't in agreement with Idea Factory, but in response to an attempt by A&E and Seagal to dismiss the case; according to the Hollywood Reporter, the judge ruled that "Because there appears to be facts showing that the material terms of the agreement were decided, there's a triable issue of fact as to whether an oral agreement existed."

The trial should begin next year.
