The producers of AMC's "The Walking Dead" have gone to great lengths to keep secret which character was killed by Negan in the Season 6 cliffhanger. However, this afternoon at Comic-Con International in San Diego, creator Robert Kirkman revealed which one it wasn't.

"It's not Rick," he said in response to a question from an audience member at Skybound's "The Walking Dead" panel.

That may not be a huge surprise, as Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes is the main protagonist of the hit television drama. And while the show routinely deviates from the long-running Image Comics series, the death of Rick would be a major departure.

Still, AMC had left that an open question, reportedly going so far as to film 11 death scenes, each involving a different character, to ensure secrecy until the Season 7 premiere in October.

With Rick eliminated from the equation, that leaves Carl (Chandler Riggs), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Arron (Ross Marquand), Rosita (Christian Serratos), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) or Glenn (Steven Yeun).

Perhaps we'll get another clue on Friday during AMC's "Walking Dead" presentation in Hall H.
