Midday on Saturday at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Marvel's executive editorial director of digital Ryan "Agent M" Penagos spearheaded the publisher's stalwart House of Ideas panel. The presentation, designed to give fans an update on Marvel's digital presence, also included Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann, vice president of CRM Danielle Campbell, and Marvel Games executive producer Mike Jones.

Penagos queued up an "Ant-Man" viral video featuring Christine Everhart's report on Scott Lang's criminal history and then introduced the panel. Penagos then began the presentation, which started with a slide featuring the logos for all of Marvel's digital offerings. Campbell said that her job at Marvel is trying to get as many people as possible to read digital comics. "One of the best ways to read digital comics is through the Marvel Comics app," she said. "We have new features like smart lists and new ways to keep track of what you've read and haven't read. That just came out a few weeks ago. There's also Marvel Unlimited, our Netflix for comics. You can read almost everything we've ever published for one price, $9.99 a month."

"There's some awesome, curated Ant-Man stuff on there too," said Jones.

"We launched a thing called Discover which is curated reading lists," said Campbell. "Some of the smartest people at Marvel have put together lists that help you get into things like 'Secret Wars' and Ant-Man and other things. It can be a little overwhelming. There are also lists for writers and artists too."

Penagos commented that he's been doing the House of Ideas panel at cons for years and has watched the number of hands grow when he asks the question, "Who's read digital comics?" Penagos added that there's also Marvel Unlimited Plus, which gets you a "box of awesome stuff." The last box featured Rocket Raccoon figure and a special variant cover for "Rocket Raccoon" #1. The membership also gives you access to a members only event, which Penagos said will take place tomorrow and feature an announcement that only attendees will get to hear.

With the conversation shifting to Marvel Games, Bill Rosemann said that he and Mike Jones form a brain trust for the department. Rosemann ran through his history with Marvel, saying that he was asked to take on the Marvel cosmic books years ago.

"We launched 'Nova' and I want to launch a new book that brings back characters from the '70s and '80s," said Rosemann. "One night, I have all my official handbooks of the Marvel Universe, I got them out and I had them spread out all over the floor. I'm putting sticky notes on pages of characters I want to bring back." He said that one of those characters was Rocket, an unlikely raccoon character that he first read back in the '80s in the character's first limited series. "The rest is history, and now you can read it all on Marvel Unlimited."

Rosemann said when he saw a spot open up for creative director of Marvel Games, he knew he had to do it. "Mike can build any game you want, but they needed someone who loved Marvel to make sure the game is authentic," said Rosemann. "To make sure they're the right characters, costumes, powers, make sure the dialogue is right, and to look ahead at comics and TV and make sure they hit in games and comics at the same time."

Jones revealed that he joined Marvel Games last year, fulfilling a childhood dream to work with the company. "My path was video games, so I've worked in localization, I've worked at Capcom for years, I worked at Midway back in the day," said Jones. "I've been all over the games business and now I get an opportunity to work with this amazing IP that I've been a fan of since I was a kid." Jones said that their new goal is to make Marvel Games stand on their own and be just as amazing as all the other Marvel properties.

With "Ant-Man" coming out, the character is going to be at the center of a massive Marvel Games event. "We're going to get as much information out of Marvel theatrical as possible, and it's easy because they're right down the hall," said Rosemann. "We read the script a year ago. Then we take that reference and we go to all of our partners and say, 'You don't have to have 'Ant-Man' content, but the movie is going to be awesome and if you want to use it, let's talk about it.'"

Zen Studios will bring gamers a virtual "Ant-Man" pinball experience. "Marvel Future Fight" is the latest, action RPG game that is available for iOS. "People have taken to it like wild fire," said Jones. "There are about thirty characters that we launched with. We love it. We play it all day. They've done an amazing integration with Ant-Man, Yellowjacket and others."

Rosemann pointed out that the characters included are both based in the comics and films, with Pym being Giant-Man and the comic version of Wasp standing next to the film versions of Ant-Man and Yellowjacket. "There's a storyline where they go inside Vision's body," said Jones. "We're not doing adaptations of the film in the game, each partner is doing wildly creative things with the characters and concepts."

"Marvel Puzzle Quest" came up next, which will also feature Ant-Man. "They think about the characters powers and how they interact with the game and the tiles," said Rosemann. "Marvel Heroes 2015" just celebrated it's two-year anniversary.

"It's kinda like 'Diablo' in a lot of ways," said Penagos. "It's kinda like another Marvel game that everyone keeps asking me about... It's a lot like 'Ultimate Alliance' in a lot of ways."

Penagos pointed out how many people think that the mobile fighting game "Contest of Champions" is for consoles, but no, "It's for my phone!"

"This is an opportunity for game makers because they haven't yet had characters that shrink," added Rosemann. "This gave our partners an opportunity to stretch their muscles."

"We just announced that after 'Secret Wars,' we're launching a 'Contest of Champions' ongoing series by Al Ewing and Paco Medina," said Rosemann. "It's not an adaptation of the game, but the game will introduce a character named Guillotine that will crossover to the comic."

Penagos then asked Mike and Bill if he could tease a small addition to Disney Infinity 3.0, and showed a picture featuring Gamora, Spider-Man, Hulk, Rocket, Iron Man and Captain America looking at a tiny silhouette in Hulk's hand.

Penagos then screened a trailer for "Tales to Astonish," a new short-form documentary series, the first episode of which will focus on "Civil War." A new episode of "Marvel Super Heroes: What The -- ?" was shown next, featuring the constantly dying Wonder Man. Marvel's trio of podcasts -- "This Week In Marvel," "Women of Marvel" and "This Week In Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D." -- were briefly touched on, with Penagos summarizing each of the three and noting that "This Week In Marvel" is approaching its 200th episode.

Marvel's partnership with ESPN was discussed next, with Penagos running through a publication focusing on the body types of various Marvel heroes, from Luke Cage and Captain Marvel to She-Hulk and Ant-Man. Penagos then played a video for "1 of 1: Origins," highlighting the connection between superhero origins and athlete origins, touting the athletes as "our greatest heroes." The series will feature athletes talking about the formative moments of their early athletic career as told through comic book style animated images. Penagos said those shorts will run during "SportsCenter" on ESPN. "There are about eight in total," said Penagos.

A young girl dressed as Rescue kicked off the Q&A session by asking if the new Thor, Jane Foster, would appear in any upcoming Marvel games. Without answering either way, Rosemann did say that there are always plans to bring "cool characters" from the comics to all of their games, and he urged everyone to keep a look out. Penagos specifically said that there's an announcement along those lines being made during the Marvel Unlimited Plus panel tomorrow.

Another attendee asked about the glitches with Marvel Unlimited, to which Campbell said was a "fair question." She said that the latest version of the app has a four star rating and that people on the backend worked really hard to make it even better. She noted that they're constantly working to improve it and that it helps when users alert them to glitches.
