Following Friday's panel and pilot screening at Comic-Con International in San Diego, ABC has released eight new photos for "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
Premiering Sept. 24, the series stars Clark Gregg has fan-favorite Agent Phil Coulson, who mysteriously survived the events of "The Avengers" to assemble a small team of S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives to investigate the strange and the unknown across the globe."I didn't like being dead, but I really loved my death," Gregg said during the Comic-Con presentation. "I never thought anything could top that. I got a call from Marvel saying, 'You've really got a great part in Avengers' and I thought 'Oh, great! Awesome!' And then they said, 'Yeah, what happens to you is what brings them to get together' and I was like 'Whaaa?'" He said the plan for his return on the show - and for his new car in the series - convinced him to reprise his role.
The pilot sees Gregg reunited, if only briefly, with his "Avengers" co-star Cobie Smulders, who has a cameo as Agent Maria Hill. The actress, who's working on the final season of her CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother," is expected to appear "occasionally" on "Agents of S..H.I.E.L.D."
Created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." stars Ming-Na as Agent Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Gemma Simmons, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz and Chloe Bennet as Skye.
