Ahead of the release of Scream VI, an intriguing fact about the film's weathered Ghostface mask and its legacy in the franchise has been revealed.

The Scream VI Experience in Santa Monica, California confirms that the new killer's mask, as shown in the film's promotional materials, is actually the same one that Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) wore in the original 1996 film. Following the release of Scream VI's first trailer, fans speculated that the grayish, cracked Ghostface mask had to belong to one of the franchise's first killers, Billy Loomis or Stu Macher. However, the origins of the mask remained unknown until the immersive event launched, allowing attendees to get up close and personal with some of the props that were used in the upcoming slasher film. This included the weathered mask, which Collider stated was on a mannequin labeled "Billy Loomis," confirming that Billy Loomis' past will continue to play an integral role in the new Scream installments.

In addition to the Scream VI Experience, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group have teamed with fast food pop-up dinner series Chain Restaurant to re-imagine McDonald's Happy Meal as the "Stabby Meal", which comes in a Scream-themed box and includes one of four collectible pins -- Scream VI lead Melissa Barrera (Sam Carpenter), co-star Jenna Ortega (Tara Carpenter), a bloody knife, and a New York subway car. The meal itself will consist of the "Bone Marrow ChainBurger," "Throwback Fries" and a "Woodsboro Orchards Apple Pie."

Scream VI Box Office Tracking

Paramount and Spyglass' prominent marketing campaign for Scream VI, which included a buzzworthy Super Bowl spot, has seemed to work out in the studios' favor, with the upcoming film projected to set a franchise record at the box office in its opening weekend. Scream VI is currently tracking to open with $37 million at the domestic box office, easily eclipsing previous franchise record-holder Scream 3, which sliced its way to $34.7 million during its opening weekend in 2000.

Besides Barrera and Ortega, returning stars for Scream VI include Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin, Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin, Hayden Panettiere as Kirby Reed, Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and Roger L. Jackson as the voice of Ghostface.
