Ghostface is back in an official poster for the next film in the Scream franchise, which is scheduled to arrive exclusively in theaters this coming January.Scream veteran David Arquette, who is slated to reprise his role as Dewey Riley in the new film, shared the poster in a post to Twitter with the caption, "It's Always Someone You Know." That very same tagline appears on the poster itself, which features a close-up shot of Ghostface brandishing his signature Buck 120 knife.RELATED: Original Scream's Anniversary Screening May Reveal New Film's Trailer Debut

The phrase "It's always someone you know" certainly rings true for Scream protagonist Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell. In the original Scream film from 1996, the Ghostface serial killer was revealed to actually be two people: Sidney's boyfriend Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) and their friend Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard). 1997's Scream 2 also featured two Ghostfaces: Billy's mother Mrs. Loomis (Laurie Metcalf) and Sidney's fellow Windsor College student Mickey Altieri (Timothy Olyphant).

2000's Scream 3 broke the trend of two Ghostfaces by having only one person don the iconic mask: Sidney's estranged half-brother Roman Bridger (Scott Foley), who was revealed to have masterminded the previous killings. 2011's Scream 4 brought back the franchise's rule of two, with the latest Ghostface killings being carried out by Sidney's younger cousin Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts) and her classmate Charlie Walker (Rory Culkin).

Despite simply being titled Scream, the 2022 film serves as a direct sequel to Scream 4. Franchise mainstays Campbell, Arquette, Courteney Cox and Roger L. Jackson are all set to reprise their roles as Sidney, Dewey, Gale Weathers-Riley and the voice of Ghostface, respectively. Additionally, Marley Shelton has signed on to reprise her Scream 4 role of Judy Hicks.

Arquette, who shared the sequel's new poster in the first place, has certainly been busy as of late. The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion returned to the world of professional wrestling in 2018 before formally announcing his retirement from the sport earlier this year. Arquette's return to the ring was chronicled in the acclaimed 2020 documentary You Cannot Kill David Arquette. It was also recently announced that Arquette had acquired the rights to Bozo the Clown with plans to rebuild the franchise.
