While probably not as Twitter-savvy as the most current iteration, artist Matt Frank's concept drawing of Rita Repulsa from a scrapped "Power Rangers" project ditches the tight green outfit for horns, spikes and more of an "ancient evil" appearance. The upcoming "Power Rangers" movie has shown it's not afraid to redesign the characters' classic looks, including the new Alpha 5, but -- based off this photo -- the franchise was once headed in a much different direction.

Matt Frank's concept art of Rita Repulsa for Max Landis' scrapped Power Rangers project

Frank posted the photo on his Facebook page and explained that the concept art request came from screenwriter Max Landis ("Chronicle"). Landis was working on a treatment for a new adaption of the movie in 2013, but it was ultimately passed over. Based off this concept art, Landis' version appears to take a more serious, and less human, approach on the arch-nemesis of the Power Rangers.

As to his version of Rita, Frank wrote,

"Max Landis approached me back in 2013 to do some concept art for #PowerRangers when he was doing a script treatment. I had other obligations at the time and could only do a quick Rita, so I pulled from his concept of the "ancient evil" and made a kind of "Xeno-Rita" - enjoy!"
