Acclaimed comics writer Scott Snyder has announced the name of Wonder Woman's new weapon in a recent tweet.After DC's next big event was revealed to be helmed by Snyder and Greg Capullo—and a startling image showed Wonder Woman wielding a chainsaw—the writer let fans know the new weapon is indeed tied to Diana's classic Lasso of Truth.
Snyder refers to the implement as the "chainsaw of truth." It will feature in the sequel to Dark Knight Metal. The event is not only heralded by Snyder (Batman: Court of Owls, American Vampire) but by Capullo as well (Spawn, Detective Comics). The writer-artist duo formerly collaborated on the Dark Knight Metal comics event that started in June 2017 and ended in April 2018. It was a massive, book-hopping crossover event with innumerable tie-ins and a wide variety of new characters.
Details are currently sparse regarding this new series, with the promotional materials only hinting at a new conflict with phrases like "the mayhem is imminent." Details such as what that conflict might be, what role Wonder Woman will play or even the title of the series remain mysterious. But anticipation for the project has been building for some time, with Capullo's return announced well in advance. This comes on the heels of big new developments for the princess of the Amazons, as indicated in Wonder Woman #750.
