After teasing readers with a Justice League sketch last month, writer Scott Snyder has revealed a tension-filled, full-color panel from the upcoming issue #17.The illustration, which Snyder posted on Twitter, shows a gun-toting Lex Luthor facing off against Martian Manhunter, a highly-anticipated confrontation for fans of the current run. According to the synopsis for #17, Martian Manhunter has decided to pursue peace with the Legion of Doom leader. However, Snyder's latest panel casts some doubt on the success of the pair's potential union.RELATED: Justice League Annual Delivers a Death Blow to the DC Multiverse

Alongside the image, Snyder wrote, "From JUSTICE LEAGUE #17 - out WED. Showdown on Mars. Every panel of this - I love what [Jim Cheung, Mark Morales and Tomeu Morey] have done."

Snyder is building his way up to Justice League #19, which will be a major turning point for the titular team. The issue will serve as the launch of a six-part story arc set in the Sixth Dimension. That story will see some of DC's biggest heroes encountering older versions of themselves and having a showdown that will determine the fate of the Multiverse.
