Scott Snyder and Jock's newest collaboration, Book of Evil, hits ComiXology next month -- and a new trailer shows off the series' dark and disturbing themes.

CBR can exclusively reveal the trailer for Book of Series, a brand-new horror series from Snyder and Jock that tells the tale of four friends who grow up in an alternate future where 92 percent of the population are born as psychopaths. Homer, the 12-year-old main protagonist, lives in a place called the Yolk. He soon sets off alongside three friends to travel the roads of America, hoping to find a place where goodness still prevails. The party follows clues from an old comic strip that bears the same name as the series and appears to contain secrets related to the incident that transformed the world into its current state.

The Secrets Of The Book Of Evil

"The story of Book of Evil unfolds in first person narration from Homer’s point of view, featuring his journal entries, alongside his illustrations from his journey -- as well as excerpts of a cartoon strip called 'The Book of Evil.'" ComiXology's description of the series reads. "This popular cartoon featured an everyman named Everett who time traveled, met heroic figures of the past, and murdered them in hyper-violent ways. Was the cartoonist telling a story to entertain? Or was he leaving clues in 'The Book of Evil' for those, like Homer and his friends, looking to change the world?"

Jock said of the series when it was announced by ComiXology, "This is a project Scott and I have been talking about for years and I’m thrilled to see our first issue debut with Comixology. We always talked about presenting Book of Evil in a truly unique way, with illustrations and design bolstering Scott’s incredibly evocative writing. Joined by the brilliant Emma Price on design, we hope it gives readers an engrossing experience, unlike anything we’ve made before!"

Book of Evil is one of several projects that Snyder has produced for ComiXology Originals under his Best Jackett Press imprint. Other series include We Have Demons with Greg Capullo and Night of the Ghoul with Francesco Francavilla. Snyder previously worked with Jock and Francavilla on the classic Detective Comics story "The Black Mirror," which featured Dick Grayson as Batman and explored some of the same psychopath themes as The Book of Evil. Snyder would go on to redefine Batman during DC's New 52 reboot of 2011 alongside Capullo.

Book of Evil #1 goes on sale Oct. 4 and is free to read for ComiXology Unlimited subscribers.
