Snyder's run began spinning out of the events of his crossover epic Dark Nights: Metal with Greg Capullo. The Justice League run, often co-written by James Tynion IV, introduced Lex Luthor leading the Legion of Doom against the team, as the villains teamed up with Perpetua to reshape the Multiverse in their image.

Justice League #39 is written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Jorge Jimenez. It is scheduled to go on sale January 15 from DC Comics.
